As far as opponent, FIU or Marshall would be in our wheelhouse this year.

I would tend to agree on Bahamas. Plus Buffalo has never played in Mobile so would be a good fit there regardless of MACC outcome. Here is what I think the MAC bowl lineup could look like.

Bahamas: NIU
Dollar General: Buffalo
Potato: Toledo
Frisco: Ohio
Camelia: EMU
Quick Lane: WMU

I wouldn’t call Dollar General the “worst bowl.” Mobile is a nice warm destination and they typically have the Sun Belt champ.

If they don’t take Buffalo I would guess Bahamas since NIU hasn’t been there yet. Frisco either but that’s a newer MAC tie.

I had a blast in Mobile when we went there. For me, the best bang for the buck of all the bowls I've been to. Yes, Miami was quite a bit better, but I paid like it was better, too.

If it is bahamas then team and staff need passports. If true, then they would have had to apply for them a month ago.

Warm weather
Before Christmas but after New Years
No northern cities
No international cities
Beach within driving distance
No domes
No cities with crime

Options will be limited for NIU

I believe that all MAC football players get their passports made before the season even starts just in case their school is chosen.

Were there direct flights there? I couldn’t find any and might try to make the trek there if they make it.

To me it is not as important where we go for a bowl game this year. It's more important that we would win a bowl game in order to set us up for a nice run next year. A win in a game would give us a lot of momentum going into next season and would help invigorate the fan base a bit.

My money's on Bahamas. Our attendance sucks and our fans don't travel, might as well send us to the bowl that no fans go to.

Report: Toledo vs FIU in Bahamas Bowl. So much for the Elk Grove Village, Illinois connection.

It wont be Detroit will it. Carey would hold a press conference saying NIU is quitting football if NIU has to go somewhere cold again.

All I hope is that it isn’t the potato bowl against the MW. We would get throttled against any of the 3 teams of usu, Boise or Fresno.

The Toledo match up is pretty even and a game they should win.

Bahamas announces early because of the complicated travel plans. Basically we are not eligible since we are in the championship. Sounds like winner of championship gets Mobile.

Can you imagine the reaction from NIU if this happened again , wow , that would be something to see. Carey would be beside himself to not get the warm climate game.

And I don't like playing Vandy as we're playing them next year.

Would NIU's team stance against Detroit and cold locations be a factor in the selection process this year, is it something that would be taken into account?

Agreed. Of the match-ups in the article that would be the most high profile and give us a shot at another boneyard victory over a SEC team. On the other hand, we are 3-5 in Ford Field; as I said in another thread while we have had some success, Ford Field has not been too friendly to us.
