Im not saying we shouldn’t look for somebody better than Andy Kennedy, but I honestly don’t believe he’s been visiting the games as a casual fan, alumni nor just to get an idea on what UGA looked like just for his SEC tv gig.

Andy would be a major upgrade from what we have now. Would UAB pay what it takes to get him? I'm not that optimistic.

Kennedy's career is on the downward slide.
What it takes to get him might not be different than what Ehsan makes.
Not saying I would go that route.

We are stuck in basketball limbo unless football takes us to a greater conference.

Do you guys want the disciplinary issues that Kennedy had at Ole Miss too? Because he would being that as well?

Exactly. The conference is the problem. Ehsan has done a great job recruiting considering the conference he has to sell.

Not sure why this is surprising to anyone..

We’ve been bad the last two years and we lost almost everyone of relevance on those teams. We have a bad coach who hasn’t shown that he can win with good talent. Who thinks he’s going to suddenly win with a bunch of young, unproven, raw players??

I expect one of the worst uab basketball seasons ever, and hope Ehsan is gone ASAP.

Like someone else alluded to, you can tell right off the bat when you have a good coach - Clark and Anderson are prime examples. Ehsan has done nothing but disappoint. He can recruit pretty well but sucks as a coach

Support the team. Don’t write them off after a damn exhibition game.

Since this has turned into THAT thread, again; what would you consider a successful season this year ?

I especially want to hear from the HCRE haters, for whom I believe a successful season would be 7-22 , a small scandal in which Rob is caught with a member of the student body, and the entire staff is removed from the campus.

My expectations for MBB 2018-19.

Team basketball. Use 10-11 guys on the roster. Beat teams with our depth. Play good to outstanding defense. Progress in offensive proficiency through out the season. 7-5 or 8-4 out of conference would be good. At least a Top 6 conference finish would be good. I expect we will be 10-8 or 11-7 in conference. Play tough at WKU, Marshall & ODU and be close to being the 4th team in the top group.
Anything over 19 wins will be good. Most important of all, defend Bartow Arena. Scootie 1st team all conference. Butler 2nd team.

I like this team! Good big tall strong guards. Sullivan, Butler, Akabeuze, Gueye, and Pearson could very well become very effective in controlling the trenches/boards on both ends of the court. No heck no don't write 'em off. I am looking forward to this season.

I will always follow them and make as many games as I can. It's the thousands of empty seats that's the problem. Many times more people have written UAB basketball off than post on Blazertalk. We have to get them back and just a winning record isn't gonna cut it.

Ehsan has a chance to turn it around but his time is short. I think it could be after this season if things really turn south but more likely will be after next season.

Should he have to get in the NCAA by year 4? Anything less is downgrading the program but that's just my opinion.

Double digit losses to #157 neutral, #176 neutral , #186 at home, #192. Lost to #235 at home.

Two top 100 wins all season against #39 and #89 in March. Lost in the our first game of the CUSA tournament by 28 points.

That's a bad UAB team in context of UAB basketball history. But yes, I'll agree in that we were truly terrible 2 years ago. Maybe just mediocre to bad last year.

Sadly, I agree with everything in this post. I hope you—and I—are both wrong, and I will happily admit it if we are. I have my season tickets and I will be there every game. I hope we are pleasantly surprised.
