AAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

W&M Women just won in 3OT --- but I am still so frustrated that I could just scream! They should have won in regulation but they repeatedly could not even inbound the ball. They should have won in each of the overtimes but they couldn't sink a free throw.

Boggs went 2-4 down the stretch from the FT line. Krause went 1-2, and Pollard went 1-6!!! Inexplicably, even after Pollard was 1-4, they still inbounded to her to get fouled (where she promptly missed two more). Birdsong was open on that same play but they threw across court (dangerous!) to Pollard who then could have quickly passed it but instead held it to get fouled.

More than 21 turnovers in the game. The only reason W&M won was because Drexel was something like 2-24 from three. Rogers, Pollard, and Reynolds should never be asked to make a layup because, based on this game, none of them are capable of doing it.

Still a good win because Northeastern pulled off an upset against UNCW. The loser of the NE-W&M game next week will probably be in the play-in round and the winner will probably be the 6 seed. Go Tribe! (breathe, breathe .....).

My feelings exactly. I actually turned it off toward the end of the 2nd OT because I just couldn’t bear to watch anymore. Coach Swanson looked like he was about to blow a gasket during one of the timeouts — and I was right there with him. But a great win, ugly though it was.

Exactly. If FTs had been made then the game would have been won in the first OT, or even the second OT. The Tribe tried every single possible way to give away the game but, strangely, Drexel refused to take it.

Tribal -- I had an appropriate response here, for a half hour. Then I deleted it and will instead say to you: "Let sleeping dogs lie".

A great road win against the 2nd best team in the league who were riding a 12 game winning streak. I enjoyed all 55 mins

The Tribe shot 53% from the field against the #1 ranked defense nationally (Boggs scored 32 points on only 14 shot attempts)

Although W&M missed a few free throws in the ot’s, it was 2 clutch free throws from Jones with 3 secs remaining in the 3rd ot to seal the deal

So we hit our FTs for the win, right? Post your appropriate response then follow it by coming to terms with the fact that your previous proclamation was baseless. I'll stick with my data supported retort that FTs and FT % aren't even top 3 indicators of what it takes to win.

RE: 2018-19 Womens BBall
You guys should be so proud of their performance, and I guess it could possibly go down as one of the biggest wins that team has had in years. Beating Drexel at the DAC isn't easy, even if it was frustrating. W&M was so prepared defensively and Drexel wan't able to run their offensive sets that they are usually so successful with. Drexel also didn't come out with any passion or energy early, and wound up playing most of the 2nd half and overtime in panic mode. Sure, there were frustrating mistakes by W&M, and by Drexel too down the stretch, but you could tell that these girls were totally exhausted and were playing on fumes. Some of the mistakes are understandable.

This game goes to show you that you have to bring it every night in the CAA. Drexel was the clear favorite to win, but they learned the hard lesson that if you don't come prepared and ready play, somebody's going to knock you off. The Tribe did just that last night.

BTW, I'm not sure what you guys were complaining about with the free throws. Through the 2nd overtime, W&M was 10 for 12 from the FT line. I'm not sure what more you could have asked of them. They were 5 for 12 in OT3, but most of those misses came after W&M had started to put the game away and had logged a ton of minutes.

I read that article you posted last year. It was written in, what, 1981? That is meaningless data from an era even before the three-point shot and probably a lot of the data pre-dates the shot clock.

Apparently the only thing that will convince you is if the Tribe loses a CAAT game where poor FT shooting made an obvious difference. If that jinx happens, then it is on you. (I read in another thread that another jinx is already on you, too).

What we ask of them is to not only make them when the pressure is off but also to make them when the pressure is on. Boggs missed two FTs (2-4) where either one of them would have cemented the win and not needed further overtimes. Pollard hit only 1 of 6 late free throws, all of the misses which allowed Drexel to stay in 1-2 possession range until the very end of the game. Jones finally got to the line with 3 seconds left and hit both (she is money in the bank from the FT line) and that is what finally increased the lead from 3 to 5. However, even with only 3 seconds left and Drexel shooting only 7% from three, I still couldn't breathe easily until she made them. I have seen Drexel come back to win games against the Tribe in the final seconds before and I couldn't trust that they wouldn't do it again.

At the end of the day, W&M still scored 77 and Drexel scored 72, great effort by all of the ladies, end of story...on to Delaware!

Tribe’s victory was the lowest probability win of yesterday’s game.

It was a fun game to watch too. No chance we should have won that. We have a lot of hustle on this team.

It was a gritty, inspired road win at a venue where few visitors win. Congrats to the lady hoopsters and coaching staff.

Not quite the end of story from the Drexel game. The tired legs from playing those 3 overtimes (which should not have been necessary) cost the Tribe women in today's game. Led by 4 at halftime but Delaware exploded for about 27 points in the third period and are leading by 18 halfway through the fourth.

Okay, the Tribe needs to rest up and then beat Northeastern this coming week. That game will determine the 6th seed, for all intents and purposes.

BIANCA. BOGGS. The first player in Tribe school history with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 300 career assists! #GoTribe https://t.co/5ihSHJuLPu
