NEW EPHESUS ARENA PRO LED LIGHTING FOR 2018-2019 SEASON
November 1, 2018 (Norfolk, VA) – The Ted Constant Center, located at Old Dominion University and operated by Spectra Venue Management, will open the 2018 – 2019 season for ODU Monarch Basketball for the first time under Ephesus Arena Pro light-emitting diode (LED) lights. The new system will replace the original sport lights that were nearing the end of their useful life. This large project will improve the arena experience for players, fans, event audiences, and broadcasters. Participating in the Old Dominion University “Sustainable Campus” initiative, the Ted Constant Center has taken steps to decrease fossil fuels and save energy with the change to LED lights, becoming a more energy efficient facility.
“We are proud to announce that the Constant Center and Old Dominion University are ushering in a new era with this modern LED lighting system” says Todd Johnson, Assistant Vice President for Auxiliary Services at Old Dominion University. “This cutting edge upgrade will allow us to lessen our footprint and provide many operational advantages to our facility managers.”
The new Ephesus Arena Pro LED lighting system is fully customizable with control systems that will allow operators to remotely update, adapt, change the color of and expand the system as their needs see fit. These innovative advanced lighting solutions create brighter, more vibrant and sustainable environments. Implementing these advanced options will only enhance the experience for audiences and add to the overall environment at the Constant Center. Not only is this project environmentally responsible, but it is also fiscally responsible. The Ephesus Arena Pro LED lights use less energy, which means that less fossil fuels will be burned in order to light the facility. The venue is invariably scheduled for events year round with sports, concerts, family shows, and trade shows.
The Ted Constant Center is a multi-million-dollar facility that opened its doors in 2002. Showcasing, at the time, state of the art lighting with over 86 metal halide fixtures containing 1000 watt bulbs. With today’s technologies and features available, the Ted Constant Center continues to strive to not only provide excellence in experience, but also sustainability. The new Ephesus Arena pro LED lighting is just the beginning for the Ted Constant Center and the future looks bright."
