I don’t see how you don’t give Foggie defensive player of the year. Sacks are nice. Picks change games. Ask ODU, WKU and USM

Picks are also not something you can completely base play on. They come from bad passes (many times caused by pressure from someone like a DE) or from bobbles, deflections, or just pure interception. DEs would be lucky to get an INT. Its a different position, and they are more likely to get sacks, pressures, and fumbles. Its anyone’s guess as to who gets the award.

UTSA's Josiah Tauaefa will be all conference. Currently only G5 LB as a semi-finalist for the Butkus award.

Gant, safety for Marshall, is an all conference player. Best defensive player on our team and defensive pro prospect we have had in a while. Levi Brown has not been all conference caliber this year.

Does Mason fine have any chance at going pro ? He's like 5'10. He is the MVP I think but if UAB runs the table they should have someone . Plus do we want a MVP that's not ever going to play pro?

Oh, and the fact you put 9 UNT players on the first team is just a little homerish, don't you think?

I don't think Fine has a realistic chance of playing in the NFL. It's not only his height but his slim build that will hurt him (or more likely get him hurt). I'm sure he'll go to training camp with someone, though.

RE: Predicting C-USA All Conference Team
My interest in football has been pretty low this year. I’ve watched ODU out of a sense of obligation mostly so I’m not qualified to judge much around the league but I think you’ve hit the ones I’d expect to see from ODU.

Well, I guess you work with what you know.
I think Fine, Bussey, and Ejiya are locks for the first team. Brooks is a lock for the second team but wouldn't be surprised if he made the first team. Garner and Muhammad are probably second team. Mayfield maybe has a chance at the second team but I doubt it. If Trevor Moore didn't make first team last year at kicker (which was the biggest mistake of last year's team IMO) then I don't see how Hedlund makes it this year. Brewer has no shot at the team.
To summarize, for UNT I see ...
First Team: Fine, Bussey, Ejiya, maybe Brooks
Second Team: Garner, Muhammad (Brooks if he's not on the first team)

Linebackers get five picks in five conference games???
Sacks are the same. You can run a stunt or beat a guy forcing the qb into a sack..or the db’s cover receivers.
Foggie changed the course of game in three CUSA games. These are the games that should go into the question.
Go to USM boards and ask how the game changed. Dude jumped a route and took it back. He knocked the qb out of the game on a crucial fourth down stop.
I need a better explanation.

I think Nick Holt will be on 1st or 2nd team defense. That's about it for us.

MeThinks AustinFromUNT is very confused, and doesn't understand that UNT is buried in 3rd place in CUSA West. They ain't that good.

Me being a homer, I would insert Spencer Brown in the second RB spot and put Garret Marino in one of the DL slots.

RE: Predicting C-USA All Conference Team
Some thoughts:
UNT K Cole Hedlund was named a semi-finalist for the Lou Groza award.
I had a very hard time choosing between Garner & JT from UTSA for the last LB spot. If you look at sacks & TFLs though, Garner has been better.
UAB plays extremely well as a team. I talked to a couple of UAB fans and they said no one on the defense really sticks out but everyone plays good.
UNT currently has the #1 offense & #2 defense in C-USA.
UNT lost to LA Tech by 2 on a blocked FG & lost to UAB by 8 after being up by 11 at the half. S&P+ gave UNT a high post game win expectancy on both of those games (this stat says if this game was played 100 times what is the likelihood UNT would win and what percent of those games would they win.)
Mason Fine is currently the best player in the league. It’s not about how they project to the NFL, but how they are playing right now.
Another one I struggled with was Watkins over Brady from Marshall.
Also I chose Muhammad over Hall of UNT because Muhammad has played all games.
