Towson Takeover Tailgate???
Anyone have details on this? Is it worth getting a ticket? Normally, I would just try to find some purple people and tailgate near them.

From the JMUSports ticket site:

JMU vs. Towson - Towson Takeover Tailgate
Saturday, November 17, 2018
11:00 a.m.
Towson University
Auburn Dr.
Towson, MD 21252

Join fellow Dukes in Towson for the official pre-game tailgate prior to the JMU vs. Towson game! This event will take place next to Johnny Unitas Stadium. A ticket to this event includes access to tailgate, food and cash bar. Event will be held outside. Should inclement weather be a factor, ticket holders will be notified 24 hours in advance. Tickets are $10 per person.

RE: Towson Takeover Tailgate???
I've always enjoyed tailgating at Towson in the lots. I haven't been in a while. Has the atmosphere changed?

I am thinking of heading to this one since I am temporarily living in the Baltimore-ish area. I haven't been to Towson since 2008 I think. Is this the "official" tailgate location now for Dukes in Towson?

What's the parking scenario at Towson? I noticed this doesn't say the ticket gives you parking access.

So is this thing cash bar or BYOB. It’s now listed as BYOB but when we bought tickets it said cash bar.

Parking is free at Towson but the lots closest to the stadium close at some point to reduce car/pedestrian traffic impact.

BYOB although it says they will have nonalcoholic beverages - you can bring coolers into this event. I know a good chunk of Richmond Dukes including myself and family are going to this one, just easier not to have to pack all the tailgating stuff!

Just don't appreciate yet another bait and switch from Duke Club.

My guess would be that they've had a ton of people sign up and don't want to have to deal with the liquor licensing for that but I have no idea, I didn't sign up until yesterday and would probably rather bring my own (and therefore probably cheaper out of pocket) libations.

Think of it as a donation

Towson Takeover Tailgate???
But it’s not a donation. It should have been the Duke club putting on an event for members and potential members. Too many issues with the whole thing to list. I’ll just say that they had a choice of 3 non-alcoholic drinks: 1) Coffee. 2) Ice water. 3) hot water. Total bush league effort.

Had a great time at the game though. Towson’s stadium reminds me of the old JMU setup. Tons of Dukes fans there. Loved the total team effort. Let’s keep it rolling.

Sorry showing by Duke Club. In fact it was a joke of a showing. Should have said BYOF (bring your own food).

Happened a few times this season at other Duke Club meet ups. It’s good to see so many JMU fans at these things, so I simply view it as being about that. I am not sure what other schools do- how much they charge, what they provide at these type of events.

RE: Towson Takeover Tailgate???
It was obviously catered by the Towson events group and from what I could tell there was only one person working the event. I don't think you can put it all on the Duke Club, obviously Towson does not do football and tailgating like we do, but it was nice to have an area to meet up with other JMU fans at an away game. I agree that it would have been nice to know what to expect as far as food and drink when we arrived.

RE: Towson Takeover Tailgate???
Towson actually screwed us with this event, I tell people all the time you can't trust other schools to do things the way we do them at JMU. We brought a charter up from Richmond, and getting somewhere to park that thing was a monumental effort. I talked to Towson Athletic, Transportation, Transportation again on game day, and finally Towson campus security. We had to move it twice after parking it in places we were told to. They suck.
