It’s a family thing. Thorne and Lester’s fathers were college fraternity brothers, and Thorne’s dad coached Tim Lester in high school. If only Jeff Thorne had come a couple of years earlier, his son Payton might have kept his verbal commitment to WMU, which may have also kept Reed from transferring to MSU, and maybe kept Rocky Lombardi from transferring to NIU.
