I agree, though I'm probably one of few. If I could change one rule in baskeball it would be to do away with the three.

You are my two favorite posters!

If analytics are so important to sports, then the sport should look a the analytics and say that the 3 pt shot has become too prevalent and is worth too much more than a two point shot.

In the NBA, the first 3 years of the the 3 pointer the average made was 26% with <2.5 3PA/gm. The last three years, it was about 36% made with ~30 3PA/gm.

I'm not against the 3 point shot, but they need to adjust it (further back, or none from the side) to make it the expected outcome closer to a two point shot.

p.s. FT% is the same as it was 40 years ago.

Or adjust the value. Make it a 2.5 point shot or something.

Sounds like Gary might be replacing Carmelo in the rotation. LOVE IT!

6 pts/8 boards in 33 minutes!

Once Melo left college, I have never liked his game.

From the article...

Anthony's spot on the roster is likely to be filled by signing undrafted rookie Gary Clark, currently on a two-way contract, for the minimum. Clark has become a favorite of coach of Mike D'Antoni, earning the bulk of the minutes that were expected to go to Anthony.

"Gary Clark's a player," D'Antoni said after the Rockets outscored the Pacers by 16 in Clark's 33 minutes on Sunday. "He's a player. Defense, rebounding, right position, shoots the ball. I mean, he's a player."

Someone tell Mike D'Antoni that Gary Clark is a problem.

Hopefully, today he signs a new contract.

RE: Gary Clark | Rockets
It makes sense that they're looking to Mr. Clark as the alternative to Melo. The Rockets lost their 3 & D SF to PHX, and that's more of a needed commodity than Melo's (iffy) 3 & (ole) D.

As long as he keeps it up I suspect that Gary has most definitely landed in one of the best situations he could have.

Gary really deserves this. He's done everything the right way since he showed up on campus. Worked on his game, ultimate team player, good teammate. I met him briefly last spring, and he was exactly like you'd think.

And now he's supplanting a hall of famer. Amazing.

Gary Clark was an All American in my book. On the court and off.

SK. First team AP All-American. Consensus All-American 2nd team. Second all time scorer. One co-conference championship, 2012 Sweet Sixteen.

Gary was an elite role player but wasn’t dominant in the scoring column. Probably the second best player under Cronin.

What's amazing is that Clark was an elite role player in college as a big man, but in the NBA he's earning his keep in a completely different role.

At the end of the day, an elite role player is better than an average 1-on-1 scorer.

It's actually pretty common to see great NBA teams without an elite 1-on-1 scorer: 2013 Spurs, 2011 Mavs, 2004 Pistons are some examples. Even the 2008 Celtics didn't really have elite scorers (Allen, Garnett, and Pierce were all over 30 by that point).

I'd have to say even. Gary played from the get go at a high level where as SK played his way into being a big time player/scorer in his last couple years. Both were very good for different reasons.

Stefano Fusaro @FusaroESPN

Mike D’Antoni says Gary Clark is questionable (hip contusion) for tonight against GSW. But I asked Clark directly if he could play and he said, “Yup! I’ve played 2 months with a broken ankle. This is nothing.”
