It just occurred to me that I should have put CUSA somewhere in the title. Oh, well.

I was going to say, if we're going to expand we shouldn't settle for Air Force's B team.

FAU defeats MTSU 2-1 in OT. Great game by MTSU who gave FAU all they could handle and then some.

If UNT gets knocked out in their first game I may not be so quick. :)

La Tech falls behind 2-0 early in the second half but come back to win 3-2 in OT. I believe it's the second year in a row La Tech has knocked out the tournament host.

Welp, great. That’s now the equivalent of three games since we scored a goal against you guys. (Counting OT and most of regulation of last year’s tie)

from usm athletics website:

USM earned a berth in the tournament for the first time since 2007.
Southern Miss' 1-0 quarterfinal victory against UAB marked the first C-USA Championship victory for the school since 1999.

so it's taken us 10 years to make the tournament again and almost 20 years to get another win in it.

So, who's who in this tournament? Who are the remaining favorites? Who's expected to meet in the final? How many teams go to the NCAA Tournament?

Going in, #1 UNT and #2 FAU were a cut above the rest, tied for the regular season title at 6-1-1. #3 thru #8 were logjammed and separated by just one-half game in the standings. UNT is a clear fave with a 14-2-2 overall record.

Last year Rice won the regular season title (unbeaten with only one tie to UNT) and earned an NCAA at-large. UNT won last year’s CUSA tournament. This year UNT might have the resume for an at-large if they don’t win the autobid that comes with the tourney championship.

Tonight’s semifinals(ET):
USM V FAU (4:30)
LATech V UNT (7:00)

Not really a huge upset (only by virtue of seeding). The teams with the four best overall records advance to the semis.
But in historical terms a big win for USM for sure!

Women's semifinals are tonight.  My daughter has an out of town basketball game tonight so I may not be around to update scores.  Feel free to update this thread and I'll update the OP later tonight when I can.
