RE: National Anthem @ UCF-Memphis game
Hurricanes fans used to shout out YOU SEE when Jussi Jokinen was on the team. And some (presumably also NC State fans) yell out the RED.

Dude, that's just ridiculous.

Tell that to the seemingly countless liberal politicians, donors, and commentators who support idiots like Colin Kaepernick & Eric Reid.
But I bet you're one of the people that says "it's not about the anthem or the flag..." in which case, discussing this with you is pointless... because that is intellectual dishonesty at its highest level.
Seek help.
Your last 2 responses on this thread have been very enlightening. I hope you continue to bring this high level of discourse to the board in the future.

Dude, if you think the NFL player protests are about the flag and/or the anthem alone as you seemed to indicate above, you're insane. Now, you might think they disrespect the flag or the anthem, and that's your right, but nothing any NFL player has ever said has indicated that they are upset with the flag or the anthem. NOTHING!
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
So.... you’re wrong.
No, you failed reading comprehension. His comments are towards the country, not the flag. And what about the anthem? Try again.

You're cherry-picking and you know it.
He said he isn't going to show pride in a FLAG for a country that blah blah blah.
He didn't say he wasn't going to show pride in a COUNTRY.
What song is playing when said flag is being displayed? Some sort of anthem, no?

RE: National Anthem @ UCF-Memphis game
Pop quiz, is his protest of the treatment of blacks or that we have a flag and the content of the anthem?
His words "a country that oppresses Black people and people of color".
THAT'S his protest. It's not the anthem or the flag. That's not a cherry, that's a FACT.
And as I said above, you are certainly free to question the timing of his protest and perhaps he could do it in a better way or in another time and place, but no, he's not doing this for the flag or the anthem as you incorrectly insinuated above. Sorry.

RE: National Anthem @ UCF-Memphis game
At the Huntsville Havoc SPHL minor league hockey games, here in Huntsville Alabama, everyone says "FREE" in unison during the last line of the anthem.
"O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave"

You left out the bold above.
Take an English class. The subject of the original sentence is the flag. Not the country. Again, you can cherry pick all you want but it doesn't change what he said.
He can backtrack all he wants and try to re position his argument (he's had plenty of help from his fellow protesters and many smarter folks than him in re-framing his argument since he opened his idiotic mouth) but we all know what the intent was. To disrespect the flag and anthem because he feels like they represent a country that oppresses black people... which is absolutely ridiculous.
