Sad you can't take kids to a college game without subjecting them to that kind of garbage. I've been going to college games for 40 years and it's gotten progressively worse over the last 5-10 years. It's time the administrations stepped in and put a stop to this nonsense.

Our students chant "you sick a**holes* on kickoffs so it's not like theirs are uncultured ruffians and ours are choir boys. Perspective. We can ALL do better.
Our students chant "you suck, a**holes" not "you suck ass holes."

At least I hope that's the case.
Which is just as embarrassing to our university, football program and alumni.

The program is also very young - this is only our 16th season. It will take some time to build up the fan base.

My question to you all is this: where do your alumni end up after graduation? Myrtle Beach is primarily a service based economy with seasonal work. Conway has some industry, it seems. I would question whether or not a local presence of alumni would help boost the program.

As an aside, I actually visited Coastal when touring schools. Decided against it due to tuition costs but, as with most here, I don't have a bad thing to say about the place.

I would think it would be a lot like Boone. Coastal Alums would have to move to bigger towns close by at least. App just seems to have plenty that want to travel from 1.5 to 3 hrs away (and some further).

I know I'd love to live in Boone, but there isn't hardly any jobs for computer/data dorks. Actually applied at App, never heard from them, but was hired by Wake within a month of application.

It's extremely sad, but it really doesn't surprise me when you see how much society has deteriorated. To think this type of language is acceptable by supposedly educated and civil people is amazing. Gate to break this to you, but civility, decency and respect for others is not generational.

Sent from my XT1635-01 using CSNbbs mobile app
What is considered civil is. The younger generation may use idiotically "bad" words more but we also discriminate against our neighbors for their differences way less so hold up on the high horse nonsense my friend.

Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

It's interesting that people will get upset with their neighbors and others for their "perceived" differences without ever talking to them. That isn't a generational issue, it seems to be just as common now as ever.

Also, this is a football game. They don't call stadiums with solid atmospheres "hostile" because everyone is trying to be your friend. This isn't the SoCon anymore and the sooner the App fans who travel to away games learn that, the better off they will be.

I also managed to find a position in High Point after being unable to find anything in the Caldwell County area. The problem with Coastal, in my view, is that there aren't any towns with bigger economies, such as a High Point/Winston-Salem/Greensboro within the same driving distance. Perhaps Charleston would be considered, and Columbia?

Amazed how people excuse this behavior and write it off as kids being kids. Wonder if they would talk this way around their younger siblings?

I’m sure that as an 18-21 year old, you never said or did anything that you would now consider inappropriate / embarrassing as you look back on it.

It's not just kids. I just heard a story of a 40ish female App fan that took a picture with our mascot but shot the camera the middle finger.

I have not read the entire thread, yet, but has the single concession stand on the Coastal side with 2 cashiers and a 45 minute wait been discussed, yet?

What is Coastal's average butt in the seat count? Not paid tickets. I can imagine it's less than 10,000 per game and the game against App brought close to 14,000.

I was concerned a little going into the game as our group's seats were in the Coastal section near the Coastal band. We got to our seats and there were about 25-30 app fans in our immediate vicinity. The three rows in front of us were all App and there were several behind us as well. The view of the App section across the field was pretty impressive as well.

It kills me to hear TV / radio announcers talk about "the fans who made the trip down from Boone" when 98% of our fans are from elsewhere.

Alumni are primarily up and down the east coast.
