I think he can. He may not have the strongest leg, but his ability to place the ball inside the 20 is invaluable.

We definitely need his punting this season with the type of philosophy the team plays with this year.

Was at the game yesterday sitting among the BYU faithful. Several said to me "your punter is really good" or "your punter is killing us," especially later in the game. He definitely was a weapon at BYU, and has been poised and consistent all year. Looking forward to two more years of watching Ference...of course, I'd rather be watching a better offense that could keep him off the field!

Side note: The long snapper did a great job yesterday as well. Lot of pressure in a tight game like that--no room for error. I believe he's a freshman, too.

Agree. Our offensive philosophy would not result in any wins without a good punting game.

Ference was a difference maker yesterday and deserves to be the MAC West special teams player of the week.

As Jim Phillips would say, we have a world class punter and defense.

Can’t Ference kick field goals?

He was the MVP. No question about it.

Maybe John Richardson, the freshman from Brother Rice, will see some action this in the last four games. If it doesn't burn his redshirt, why not see what he can do?

He will have have to keep it up to pass Tom Wittum. Five NFL seasons and two Pro Bowls.

Ference is an absolute stud punter....I like seeing him kick. Lucky for all of this O punts a ton!!

Matt Ference and Mykelti Williams were named MAC West Division players of the week.

I saw Wittum play my freshmsn year on campus. If I remember correctly he also played third base for the baseball team. Heck of an athlete!
