WMU/Army guys assessment of Game at EMU
I attended last Saturday's EMU/Army game, and wanted to share my thoughts. It has been quite a while since I caught a game at EMU, but my wife, daughter and I decided to take in the game, as my son is in his third year at West Point, and we don't get many opportunities to see an Army game so close to home (we live in Standish).

You guys have to do something about the bad weather, but other than that our experience was great. All of the EMU fans around us were enthusiastic but good sports, polite and friendly. The stadium was in very good condition, and the bathrooms were even clean. You have great concessions, and a far better variety of stuff than we have at Waldo (WMU), or at Michie (West Point). The parking at Rynearson is the best of any college stadium I have been too. Very close to the stadium, easy in and out, and FREE!

The game was good. Honestly, EMU truly is the bad luck team of the year this season, and has played much better than its record. I also attended last years EMU pgame at Army last season, and remember the gutsy call to go for two and the win. Your defense is very good, and probably stopped Army's fullback dive better than any team this year, Oklahoma included. I hope you guys get it together for a whole season soon, with the exception of when you play Western.

Good luck the rest of the way. Beat CMU bad!

RE: WMU/Army guys assessment of Game at EMU
Thanks.

I went to the Army game last year and had to walk, on a bum knee*, about 2 miles to my car (think the bus shuttles were full and I thought it was a mile, or so I was told).

The parking at EMU, for both FB and basketball, is great. I can usually get a parking space closer to the Convo than I can in a shopping mall.

I wish the game had been MID-October and not late October. I went to an EMU FB game in late October once and it was snowing... Late October weather can be dicey.

* Had the knee replaced this summer and it is feeling excellent. I'll be able to walk 2 miles in 2020 when we come up to West Point again.

Just got a hospital bill today. My wallet is hurting... :(

Wow! Western in Eastern folk can be friendly to each other. LOL.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. Hopefully the stadium is even better than next time you see it once all that construction is done at the North End. I'm not a huge fan of that temporary scoreboard.

And congrats on your son being at West Point. That is an achievement.

Hey, 'Nickle. temporary scoreboards are well not designed to be very nice...

If I were the AD, I'd gotten a temporary scoreboard like the 'Green Monster' in Fenway Park, and have a sports management major put up the points for each quarter. No video. Running clock???

Just kidding, of course.

I hope you had the opportunity to take in all of West Point, including the Cadet Area, and everything along the Hudson, Trophy Point. And hope you enjoyed your experience. It's such an incredible and historical place, I encourage people to visit a lot. I really wish Western would get Army on the schedule.

Sorry about the bum knee. You are right though about parking for Army home games.

Thank you. We are proud of him. But proud of my daughter at Oakland U too. She has it a lot easier than he does though.

I was wondering what the plans were for all the construction, and why the video board was on the trailer. I suspect I will be attending WMU/EMU games there in the future and will see the project when it is done.

Thanks for the post! Glad you could make the trip from Standish. Unfortunately that abundance of proximate parking comes at the cost of being off campus.

Congrats on your son at Army. His future is bright.
