BYU Observations Game Day
Kind of a weird day, weirder game. NIU showed well in the stands, team looked great and excited to play, Carey had them ready. BYU fans overall class act, especially the BYU hosts and people working the game. NIU left all kinds of points out there, and not converting on 3rd down (dropped passes) certainly did not help. If this O can kind a little more offense, we can be very deadly. Childers did some great things, improving every game. Our D! Wow, so much fun to watch LB flying around and D tackles owning the line. BYU had no idea what hit them, none.

Weird note on fans, which overall were great, notably quiet leaving the game. No tailgating, fans eating dipping dots, donuts, and other ice creams was kind of weird to see, as was everywhere. The game was quiet, I mean even when BYU was on D, you could hear a pin drop until the last 3 minutes or so. Their fans did themselves no favors. Living here in Utah, beating BYU, will make my year very much easier….much!

Great to see the Huskies leave Provo Utah with a WIN, we needed a non-conf win. Beat Akron.

Did we have a lot of fans at the game? Looked like a pretty small number from the pictures I saw.

Nice victory for NIU. Great to pick up milestone wins at Nebraska and BYU during what some consider off seasons.

NIU definitely one of the better "G5" programs over the last 15 years, plenty to be proud of. If we only were paid accordingly by ESPN et al...

Total number I would say 150-200. There was red here and there throughout the stadium but our section had about 150. Strong showing for the most part. Zero tailgate, unless you count donuts and dipping dots. 03-puke

Did NIU fans get to go on the field after the game? What a memory for everyone there.

Couple of us did, BYU was great handling the Huskies and fans. I hope we treat them as well in DeKalb.

Great post MileHigh. Love the photos and comments. Thought the BYU fans were really nice to deal with, and that the alcohol-less pregame might have had something to do with it. I might just give it a try...NOT! 04-cheers

Glad Bill Baker has finally started calling us NIU. He resisted for a long time.
