That's what it took to get Rice's first ever undefeated home season at HRS.

Then..."What is the second most difficult task in college football?"...Answer.."lose all of your games"..then he said..."I believe coach Dimel may accomplish the second most difficult task in college football" UH went 0-11 that year.
September 1, 2001 - Rice 21, Houston 14
In 2001, Rice went 8-4, with a schedule that included Houston (0-11), Duke (0-11), Navy (0-10), and Tulsa (1-10).
Three winless opponents in one season is amazing. There's only been one other winless team on Rice's schedule since then - Southern Miss (0-12) in 2012.
Ah, the infamous show where the MOB spelled out "GED" on the field, and didn't even get to tell the joke behind it because the crowd at Robertson was booing so much. IIRC the MOB brought in extra speakers to avoid any plug-pulling shenanigans. It rained most of that game, but not during halftime because it never rains on the MOB! (except when it does)
It also led to the great show "A Salute to Zero" in the 2002 season opener with the "0-11" formation on the field. What a debut for Chuck Throckmorton!
Too bad Rice lost that game...
