RE: Will we ever be football champions?
Since I enrolled at EMU in 1974 the institution has employed 10 different football coaches. Two coaches, Chlebek and Cooper, had just two decent years and moved on to bigger programs as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Our most successful coach, Jim Harkema resigned in the midst of the "Huron" crisis with the program trending down. Of the other seven coaches Mans, Stock, Rasnick, Woodruff, Genyk, English and Creighton, there is no question who has been the most effective.
Let's face it the EMU football job is perceived as a graveyard job to many qualified candidates as a result. Chris is probably going to make close to $500K this year, which is not even half of what many U-M assistants will take home. We are getting a great job at a bargain price.

RE: Will we ever be football champions?
Let me draw an analogy:
The Baltimore Orioles in MLB.
They sit in the AL East with World Champion Boston and always tough (and spending) N.Y. Yankees. They are at a real disadvantage compared to Cleveland, Detroit, etc. or a NL team with the parity there.
We sit in the MAC West and had to deal with Toledo and NIU for many years.
Can we win a MAC West? Well WMU has done it, but it is tough given the strength of the West.
Bottom line is that it is a tough road. OTOH, MAC MBB is different. The MAC West has not been as tough as the East.
Will we ever be basketball champions? Maybe this year.

MAC WEST is not the BIG east. we should be in the conversation at least once a decade.
Maybe we need to go to the veer like army??????

I said the same thing a couple years back. Dominate the MAC with the triple option!
It would absolutely work at this level.

Ohio runs a varaition of the triple option and does quite well, while we meddle in the bottom of the MAC West trying to run spread. sometimes you have to buck the trend of what the teams around you are doing to be good.

Bottom of the MAC West? We are a double OT, and FG loss away from winning the West. Let's not get carried away.
I wouldn't really call our offense........spread. We're basically running what the majority of college teams run as their base offense today; which is shotgun, 1 RB, 3 WR's. The difference between the one's that do it well, and those that don't, is a legit dual threat QB that can actually beat you with his arm and his legs. Ohio has that exact QB in Nathan Rourke. We should have something very close next year.
Hey, next year you should get your wish when we have multiple dual threats in the QB room. We should see more of those Ohio variations as the staff hopefully figures out the best ways to use these guys...............hopefully.

We should be an Air Raid offense. I've been saying this for 15 years.

Holy, what happens to an air raid offense when it is cold, wet, windy and/or rainy on game day? In general, teams have to be able to run the ball effectively to win consistently in football.

Indeed the dual threat QB is where it is at.

Amen. Every time we think we're gonna exploit the pistol we literally get gifted with a Pro Style QB.

Eh, offensively Purdue has done well in bad conditions for a long time. They are not a pure Air Raid, but they have been passing based for a while. Mike Leach is doing well in frigid Washington.

What is our goal?
CC has made a lot of progress, but eventually you have to win a title. When?
The corollary question:
Will there be a baby boom (small one) in S.E. MI when we win the MACC?

Or next questions???

Next year looks like a year we can at very least win our division. Glass at QB. Turner and Parker at RB. 5 (!) senior WRs. Lot of returners on defense.
