RE: BYU vs. NIU Predictions
BYU-31
NIU-14
Having lived in SLC area for a number of years in the early 2000’s and watched non com teams play the Cougars it’s difficult. The elevation takes its toll, especially late in each half. It’s something teams just cannot prepare for.
You must have a ball control offense and find a way to keep your defense and play makers fresh. See if Hot Rod establishes a running attack early. Depth on both lines is vital and cornerbacks will need to be cycled in/out.

RE: BYU vs. NIU Predictions
I have a strong feeling there's going to be a lot of disappointed Huskie fans based on this prediction thread. We've beaten bad teams and they've taken down Wisconsin, Arizona, and a 6-win Hawaii team.

You could be right, but I like our chances especially if our offense is continuing the trend of getting better. Our defense has proven that we can slow down most offenses. Iowa, And Utah are both ranked, and Florida State though they’re having a down year may have been the most athletic team we’ll play the rest of the year. This is a trap game for BYU. We have momentum on our side.

We are trending up right now and they are somewhat trending down after being ranked and then a couple losses. I like our chances and we pull out a close one. Our Kicker has a day and we win by 3

Some asterisks, Hawaii has 6 wins but their signature win of those 6 was beating #109 Colorado State. All of their other wins are lower than 109. Arizona I would not classify as a juggernaut this year with their best win against #81 California (a team ranked lower than #72 NIU). Massey composite ranking for Arizona is #89 or 17 spots behind the 72nd ranked Huskies. The Wisconsin game, yes that was a great one for BYU, maybe not as great now as it appeared at the time, but a huge win. If NIU plays well and takes the game seriously, and Carey doesn't throw in the towel early, it should be competitive.

RE: BYU vs. NIU Predictions
I know the altitude is beaten into the ground, but it is a real concern obviously. For NIU to win this game, Carey will have to deviate with his obsession to be satisifed if the game is close. NIU only has a chance to win if they are leading at the half, treat offensive possessions like they are worth something. NIU's start in this game is critical.

Regardless, all three of those wins are better than any win we have.
Unless we magically developed an effective offense during our bye-week and Childers ate his spinach then we will very likely lose to BYU.

NIU has beaten EMU. According to Massey thats more impressive than all those wins except Wisconsin

RE: BYU vs. NIU Predictions
I’m going with reverse psychology as I have picked each game for the offens to finally break out and they did not. So now I will say the offense doesn’t show up and Huskies lose:
BYU 27
NIU 14

There were definitely some empty calories in that BYU 4-3 start.

Hoping the D keeps them shut down, but if their QB is on could be a long day. Taking a lot of people, Huskies will be in Provo yelling for our kids.
REPRESENTING, finally a good trip for you.

Yes, hope you had a great time Mile High.
I spent a lot of time in and around Provo about 10 years ago. Very nice and it is as scenic as it looked on TV.
