That’s a prime retail corner. That wouldn’t make sense with all the niu property just feet away. Hope for something that DeKalb doesn’t already have.

A bar would be nice. What will go up in reality is something dumb like a dunkin donuts.

Could NIU set up an extension store to sell NIU gear at that location? It would be a great location for people walking to sporting events.

Never say never. There are 4 dunkins within two miles of each other on route 59 in plainfield and naperville. Either way just using that as an example. Not optimistic it will be replaced with something that will boost nightlife or pre-game experience.

I had no problem with the name, but it might have benefited them slightly to change the name to Huskie Tire.

Prime retail space or not I think NIU really should be buying the space. Might not ever get that shot again to buy. Basically the "entrance" into dekalb as I always thought. Coming up underneath the bridge is really the first impression of NIU for casual people/fans/visitors from other schools. The newer retail space next to it has a lot of open spots. Not sure retail would be the best anyways

They weren't Walmart, they could have changed the name if they thought that was an issue.
