I’ve been following the b-ball team really closely for 30 years and can’t think of a player that left for these reasons, other than Porter. Not trying to start an argument... just wondering if I’m missing someone.

Anyway... I’m really glad Dickens is here. I love that we got another local player on the team. Bethel has put out some good ones over the years. I think it’s a little foolish to think he will give us what Porter did this upcoming season, But his ceiling is probably just as high if not higher.
Batten went to Boston College

Again...if we can get a little consistency shooting from the outside we could be a dangerous team. This will also give us time to develop the younger bigs on the team.

How??

We weren’t an ncaa tourney team last year and neither transfer is anywhere near as good as stith or porter.

I know you guys love to “win the offseason”, but we still have some HUGE front court question marks. If either of these guys is a stiff we still have a huge hole to fill in the starting lineup.

Glad he got the waiver, now let’s see what he and the other 7 footer can do before we make any grand proclamations.

Dajour is an inside threat and he is every bit as good offensively as Trey. Dajour can get stronger. Plus with Kithcart and a few others we can be a very dangerous team. Like I said if all goes well this season I can see us being in a good position to be a NCAA team this year. I always look at things realistically and this team has the potential on paper. With a little consistency from the outside shooting the ball and some defensive toughness from Dajour we have the pieces in place.

First of all you have no way of knowing that whatsoever. He’s playing against no one in practice so even if you’ve seen those, it’s meaningless.

Secondly, with our very mediocre schedule yet again this year, it once again means we will most likely need to win CUSA to get in, something we’ve never once done. I’m sure someone will convince me it’s great but it looks very similar to last year’s schedule and I just don’t see the high end signs yet wins anywhere to be found.

We might have a couple of chances but I highly doubt we win those games with such a brand new mix of players early.

Finally, I’m glad dickens is eligible and I’m glad we will at least have a chance this year, but anyone who sees this team as an at large right now with the weak schedule and the massive question marks in the front court is absolutely kidding themselves, just like you were last year.

I’ve been right every single season about jones teams not being NCAA tourney teams and I have little to no doubt about this team again this year for a variety of factors.

We won 25 games last year and didn’t sniff the NCAA tourney. This year’s team is NOT better than last year’s and only the most irrational, least knowledgable fans would argue against that at THIS exact point in time.

But please, tell me why I’m wrong so I can laugh at you all for the sixth season in a row lol.

Nice call Mr. Big Blue

This place would be very boring with the entertainment provided by RR.

To RR's credit, CUSA's top half was down this season. Not sure ODU was an NCAA quality team compared to what it took the last 2-3 seasons to win the conference.

Also to RR's credit, he was right that we wouldn't sniff an at-large bid, which is what people mean when they say "we are a tournament team". It's semantics, but that's not the same thing as winning the CUSAT. Anyway, back to your usual programming.

Here is an updated Bucket list for the 2018-19 Monarchs. Everything checked off:

* Improve Recruiting (Done. The last two classes coupled with Oliver look very nice.)
* Improve Scheduling (Done. Last year's was just awful. When you win 25 games and can't even get into the NIT, you need some more beef. With the new NET rankings, I would like to see another P5 or two on the schedule for 2019-20, even if they are pay for play road games.)
* Beat VCU and W&M (Done.)
* Get a big notable win (Something sorely lacking for the past few seasons - Done. Syracuse)
* Beat MTSU. (Done.)
* Clinch Pod 1. (Done.)
* Win Regular Season CUSA Title, clinch NIT Bid.
* Win Conference Title, get to NCAAs (Done.)

Now that we've reached our goals for the season, let's beat some Boilermaker Booty. And get JJ well.

Nicely done. I would add beat Richmond which is not that unusual but still a goal every year, especially with our own Richmond player, Jason Wade, wearing our uniform.

Nothing in my post was incorrect.

We got some huge breaks and won the CUSA tourney, but we did not replace trey, our front court did have holes and we were not a great team despite our gaudy record as evidenced by our 14 seed.

I’m pulling for us to pull of an upset big time of course but the only reason we are dancing is because CUSA SUCKED and we got some lucky breaks.

But you have to win to get in and we did, now we are playing with house money for the first time in months.

We had a target on our back all year leading CUSA, it’ll be interesting to see how we respond now that we are not the ones with the pressure on us.

“Lucky breaks.” Whatever. You make your own luck and this team did it better than anyone in CUSA this year. They earned it, and deserve all of the credit.

Not trying to take away credit, they absolutely earned this bid through blood sweat and tears.

Every team that wins a conference championship gets a few lucky breaks on the way, it’s not a slight in the least or at least I didn’t intend it that way.

People are so sensitive lol.

You said, “the only reason” we are dancing is because “CUSA sucked.” That sure sounds like a slight to me.

But, whatever, we’re dancing. We’re all on the same team here. Let’s just focus on rooting for a Monarch victory on Thursday.

As in we would not have earned an at large.

Poor wording I guess, I was saying the only reason we got in is because we won CUSA, that’s the only way we were getting in.
