How??

We weren’t an ncaa tourney team last year and neither transfer is anywhere near as good as stith or porter.

I know you guys love to “win the offseason”, but we still have some HUGE front court question marks. If either of these guys is a stiff we still have a huge hole to fill in the starting lineup.

Glad he got the waiver, now let’s see what he and the other 7 footer can do before we make any grand proclamations.

From what I've seen/heard, Dickens is overall better than Porter when he first came to ODU (at the same age). My hope is that his development is similar/better than Porter's over his time at ODU.

I do hope we get more out of Dickens this year than the first year we got out of Porter. Some of that was lack of mins he could play though.

What is Dickens natural position? Is he more of an athletic 4? And what about the freshman bigs?

Dickens wants to call himself a stretch 4, but he's moreso an athletic 5. Picture someone like Tyson Chandler. Its going to be difficult to play him alongside Robinson.

Ekizpe is a bruiser, but is developing an outside game. He's physically imposing for a freshman (strong). Maybe a Zach Randolph type game (not nearly that strong yet)

Joe Reece is a stretch 4. Thin, but good shooter.

Thanks - that does sound like a challenge to use Dickens and Robinson at the same time consistently. It also sounds like PF might be our weakest spot this year with Carver and Reese as the the two natural fits there. I think Carver is a great role player in the mold of D Taylor but he’s so limited offensively, I’d hate to see him as the de facto starter there.

I would assume Carver starts there, no? I say that being the biggest Ezikpe fan on this board.

RE: Dickens
The thing i like the most about this year's team on paper is the versatility. I think we have a roster that can match up with almost anyone on the defensive end whether they play big or small, fast or slow. I also think we have the ability to score enough different ways to cause some problems for people on the offensive end.

Too many times last year teams were able to drop back and play zone and we didn't have enough shooters to pull them out. I would hope that Caver, BJ, Goodwin and Green can at least hit enough shots this year to keep people honest. We also have the size to work the ball inside against teams try to extend the perimeter and run us off the 3 point line if we can hit our shots. First time under JJ we may have a group that can go up tempo at times with Caver, BJ, Green and Kithcart. None of this even includes getting bonus production out of any of the freshmen.

All has to play out on the court but i am excited to see what this group can do.

Me too, but if I had to bet, I would put my money on him being the starter.

If so, it's back to having 5 guys on defense, 4 on offense. Typical JJ team

Their value to the team will be always based on how hard they are willing to work. If they buy into Jone's system, then I see good things coming.

I agree it's going to take some time for these guys to gel, and that may take care of any earth-shattering victories early. But I have to admit I'm excited for the season, because there's great potential.

Arnaud Dahi, keyon carter, Gerald lee, Alex loughton, valdus vasylius.

Hell even Cooper developed a nice little jumper.

No one under jones has developed a jumper. Extremely telling.

Which means no at large which means we have to win CUSA to make the NCAA tourney yet again.

For the record I didn’t say we wouldn’t be a good team. I think we will be.

I just don’t think we are at large good. But in year 6 is that good enough yet again?

Don't forget that Jones has gone on record as saying he may play BJ at the 4 spot some. I don't think he will start there but will have a lot of depth at the wing so with that I think we will be fine at the 4. Ezikpe and Carver should give us good minutes there. I look for Carver to start simply based on Jones history of playing experienced players. But if Ezikpe can impress early he could earn those minutes.

He is better than Porter currently. Porter was a head case that hurt the team. Offensively Dajour is just as good. Defensively he is better. Finally he is more athletic.

Exactly. Matchup wise, there are tons of 4s in cUSA that it makes sense for BJ tp play against.
