Men’s Basketball Season Tickets Sold Out Behind Record Sales
https://gobearcats.com/news/2018/10/24/m...sales.aspx

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati athletics announced Tuesday that 2018-19 men's basketball season tickets are sold out for the Bearcats return to Fifth Third Arena after a 20-month, privately funded $87-million renovation.

In all, nearly 9,000 season tickets have been sold, breaking the single-season record for the 29-year old facility.

"The renovation of Fifth Third Arena represents a significant commitment to athletics by our university, and the overwhelming response of our donors and fans has been truly inspiring," Director of Athletics Mike Bohn said. "We salute our passionate fans in announcing an official sellout of our season tickets, the highest mark in program history. We look forward to providing a wonderful experience for our students and guest and creating an environment in our on-campus arena that will give our student-athletes a true home-court advantage, beginning Nov. 7 as we host Ohio State for the first time since 1920."

Demand for tickets available through the mini plans is high and may be the only way fans can secure their seats for those select games. Any remaining tickets will be available for purchase when single-game tickets go on sale beginning Monday, Oct. 29.

Bohn also announced Tuesday the creation of a season ticket waiting list in an effort to manage the historic high demand. Fans interested in securing season tickets for future seasons are encouraged to join the no-cost waitlist, which will be organized on a first-come, first-served basis. Importantly, fans who join will also be among the first to gain access to limited numbers of 2018-19 single-game tickets that will become available for premium home games this season, such as Ohio State, Xavier, and UCLA, including standing room only.

Sure, it will probably go something like this:

Quote:SEXUAL ASSAULT BY FORMER UC COACH FAILS TO DETER SEASON TICKET SALES

by Paul Daugherty

UC fans, seemingly unaffected by former coach Larry Davis' guilty plea to sexual assault (read more about that here), have been grabbing up season tickets to the upcoming Men's Basketball season in record numbers. According to athletic director Mike Bohn, Fifth Third Arena is now sold out of season tickets for the 2018-19 season.

Former coach Larry Davis, who was accused last fall of sexual assault, was an assistant coach during the 2017-18 season in which UC played their Men's Basketball games at NKU's BB&T Arena while the Women's team was resigned to playing in a local high school gym (read more about that here).

In a press release, UC athletic director Mike Bohn stated, "We look forward to providing a wonderful experience for our students and guest and creating an environment in our on-campus arena that will give our student-athletes a true home-court advantage."

Larry Davis' sentencing is scheduled for November 12.

^^ I posted about this in another thread. That clown hasn't mentioned UC once since before the season when he said there was no buzz over UC football.... didn't bring the win over UCLA, talk up the 6-0 start, talk about Mike Warren being the Truck, Des Ridder being a red-shirt freshman playing like he was a 5th year senior, etc. However, once a little gossip breaks he is on it like white on rice.

This is really good news for the program and our fans and should help move UC way up the list this season for home attendance nationally (as well as tops in our city again).

Selling out season tickets though is different from selling out the arena for the season. It begs this question: why not keep selling remaining seats as season tickets, only, up until November 1? I realize there must be a block reserved for visiting team fans and the promised allocation for our student sections. But why not offer remaining seats only as part of a season ticket package until the day of the first exhibition game? Any remainders after that become mini-plans; then single games if available.

Because you are alienating a huge portion of the fan base that either doesn't have:

1) the time to commit to 19 basketball games
2) the money to purchase a season ticket package

They gave people PLENTY of time to purchase season tickets, if you hadn't bought them at that point, it's on you.

At this point they likely are making more money selling the seats as mini plans as well.

You can't fool me, Tuba. This is too well-written and too bereft of useless jargon to be a PDoc piece.
