I'm a little bit bored today, so I wanted to see what everyone is thinking about in regards to bowls this year.

I just looked up our tie ins, and it turns out the conference champions get to pick which one they go to. Obviously, we have some work to do, but that would be a cool situation to be in. Here is what I am thinking about our tie ins:

Bahamas Bowl - I hope we don't go again, as I can't afford it

Hawai'i Bowl - See Bahamas Bowl

Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl - I like the idea of this one, as I have a good bit of family and friends in Tampa, the weather would be beautiful, and we could get a contingent to go to Busch Gardens one day. We would also play a "brand name" program from the AAC

Cheribundi Tart Cherry Bowl - Meh. I've never been to Boca but have heard it's a retirement community. Last time we played a MAC team I was really upset I took the day off of work to watch it.

Gildan New Mexico Bowl - This is the closest geographically to me. I have never been to New Mexico, and it doesn't seem to be too cold. I would be okay with this, and the Mountain West would be a beatable team

R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl - I would be all about going to Bourbon Street with all my Blazer friends! But, playing a Sun Belt team would be lame. Unless it was Troy

SERVPRO First Responders Bowl - This is intriguing to me! We could go to Dallas and play a Big Ten team! Travel would be easy, I've heard Dallas is fun, and we would be playing a team that is about as brand name as it gets.

Walk - On's Independence Bowl - I really don't want to go to Shreveport. But, we would play either an AAC or SEC team. Either way, please no.

DXL Frisco Bowl - meh

With last year being in the Bahamas, I think they'd go with something more fan friendly. Unfortunately the best bowl geographically for fans (Nola) probably offers the weakest matchup. I think Dallas and Tampa are good fits.

I like a lot of options, but the Boca Bowl could be the best one. Here's why:

1. It is Dec. 21 - far enough before Christmas to give time to get back but not so early like New Orleans (Dec. 15).
2. It gives us exposure to South Florida recruits for a week. Big recruiting opportunity.
3. It is close to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. There's plenty of cool stuff to do.
4. The stadium is nice but small enough where we could have an impact.

I'm pulling for Boca Raton.

No idea why some (not here) tend to want to place UAB vs Auburn in the Bham Bowl.

I think we should shoot for greater.

NOLA Bowl for selfish reasons. I can attend that one. Work gets in the way of the rest.

New Orleans Bowl will also be kicking off around halftime of the UAB vs Auburn bball game at the BJCC. I'd like to attend our bowl game and that basketball game.

i want the most prestigious bowl with the most national recognition. i think that would be the Independence Bowl

Betting Bocca. NO bowl is same day at our game with Auburn. That’s not happening. We do a Bocca for recruiting.

Check Southwest and Spirit from Atlanta for cheapest flights. I’ll be honest. I love NO. Bocca is a hell of a trip with plenty of fun things to do. Great stadium beautiful campus. I’ll be spending the nights in the Keys.

I expect La tech to do Dallas or NO.

If recruiting is a factor in bowl game selection, is there a bowl in California to which UAB might be invited? Clark seems to like to recruit a lot from that area.

The reasoning behind California at the time was due to the number of Jucos there. While we shouldn't exclude recruiting there our focus can now be closer to home.

Basketball shouldn’t impact our bowl choice. A significant amount more fans would attend NOLA over Boca IMO.

Stop aiming low. 12-1 can get us the Access Bowl.

We should strive to get the highest profile bowl game against the highest profile opponent.
