Nola would be awesome, but if we can get the highest profile bowl against the best opponent, that’s what I want.

I’ll be shocked if it’s NO. Betting Bocca unless we get a deal to play a P5 in a bowl we are not affiliated in.

Okay, so what is your criteria for "Highest profile bowl"? It seems that below the BCS and New Years' Day ones they are all pretty much the same, random games in random cities, sponsored by random things.

I agree about a high profile opponent. But we can get high profile from AAC, SEC, or Big 10. It seems most of our tie ins are AAC. Of their watered down conference, I would like to play the following:

UCF - They are the defending national champion! If they stumble and lose a few games we could play them.

Memphis - Tell them to bring the bones with them, we're taking them back

Temple - If we beat them, they have to take Mark Ingram Back

Cincinnati - Old C-USA rival could be fun

USF - Could be cool. Lots of green on the field.

I would agree with those you have listed. Basically anyone above the CUSA level.

Also would be nice to go somewhere based off of something more than just our location.

I know we could use a good traveling crowd but if we were to play a higher profile team in a more distant place I would rather do that than playing Troy in New Orleans.

I like a lot of options, but the Boca Bowl could be the best one. Here's why:

1. It is Dec. 21 - far enough before Christmas to give time to get back but not so early like New Orleans (Dec. 15).
2. It gives us exposure to South Florida recruits for a week. Big recruiting opportunity.
3. It is close to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. There's plenty of cool stuff to do.
4. The stadium is nice but small enough where we could have an impact.

I'm pulling for Boca Raton.

Its Dec. 18

Sorry. You're right. Even better!!

ESPN projects either New Orleans vs App. State or Boca vs Northern Illinois.

I’m shocked the Gaspillia Bowl is named after a mythical pirate

Boca/Tampa would be great. Dallas vs the B1G would be awesome too. As many others have said, NO is great travel wise, but is really for a 6-7 win team.

Clearly going to the Access bowl. We'll shock the world and beat A&M by 7 and end up 12-1. UCF and USF both drop a game. A man can dream

My money is on Bocca or Dallas.

Bocca. Try Sw or spirit out of ATL for cheapest flights (SW generally cheaper out if atl than B’ham)

Dallas SW out of B’ham

Unless you are driving a gas guzzler... cheaper to drive.

Besides gasoline costs, there is also investment in time since driving can mean devoting more days and stress to the trip than for flying. If one can take paid vacation time to travel at a leisurely (sight seeing) pace, driving can be a great pleasure.

Good to know! Flying is faster than driving and leisurely driving can be fun, but you'll probably need to take a few days off from work!

That is why I specified "one can take paid vacation time". Not all jobs provide "paid vacation time" during the year. My neighbor worked for BellSouth for over 30 years and had several weeks of paid vacation each year.I worked over 30 years as an Alabama academic classroom teacher and never had a single day of paid vacation. Alabama's academic teachers have 185 "furloughed" days without pay each year.
