RE: Attendance standings as of October 22, 2018
I'm showing UTSA with 27,877 and Marshall with 26,614.
UTSA is trending down with attendance around 20,000 the last 2 games.
Marshall is holding steady with around 25,000 the last several games.
UAB with 25,000+ and 28,000+ the last 2 games.
I could have miscalculated somewhere though.

RE: Attendance standings as of October 22, 2018
The UAB Blazers have an excellent shot at those in the metro area population who do not or cannot pay the rather stiff costs of buying Auburn or Bama football tickets and then driving and parking at the games. If the Blazers continue to build their program's brand through winning (FAU is really struggling this year after a 2017 C-USA championship season), we could see attendance records fall every year from now on.
Another Blazer plus is that the program has never had to refuse to sell our local fans game tickets because of race. Among these fans there is no generational tradition of buying Bama or Auburn tickets for our marketing people to overcome.

My tax accountant is a big Alabama football supporter (He stood in line to touch the hem of Saban's garment) yet is a UAB graduate.
I saw him for the first time at a UAB game this past weekend.

Brought 6 friends to their first-ever UAB game this past Saturday (Auburn graduates and fans). They had a blast. All said they’ll return.

RE: Attendance standings as of October 22, 2018
I've been projecting attendance each week since the preseason. This takes into account UAB's average attendance numbers each season and compares it against their FPI ranking, Wins and Losses. Here's how it's changed each week:
Preseason: 24,820
Week 1: 25,585 +3.08%
Week 2: 22,851 -10.69%
Week 3: 24,786 +8.47
Week 4: 24,752 -0.14%
Week 5: 25,006 1.03%
Week 6: 26,407 5.60%
Week 7: 27,363 3.62%
Week 8: 27,341 -0.08%
Since Preseason we're projected to have 1,830 more people at each game, good for an increase of 7.17%. I don't think we're going to hit it though since we'd need 30,761 at each remaining game to get there.

I was hoping we'd break 30k, but 28k is still a good crowd.
As much as I hate to admit it, attendance at the UTSA game will probably take a hit with Bama vs LSU kicking at 7.

There is no doubt that will give it a slight hit. I saw very little Alabama or Auburn gear at the game Saturday.
I thought we were going to hit 30k for the game too, but 28 is just fine. Let's see if playing for something helps us increase attendance the rest of the way.

If we'd had an opening day crowd that was even 3/4 of last years attendance... but someone thought it was a good idea to open on a Thursday night.
Genius at work.

Some of the others at the top had games against P5 home teams or similar.
Of course we benefited from a big attendance for the first game return last season.

I wish we had a 2:30 kickoff that day.

Wow look at that FAU number. The Lane Kiffin honeymoon is over.

I think the Thursday night kick worked a lot better than some people expected. I was in favor of it and glad we are doing it again next year against an in-state team Alabama State.

Thursday Night Football!
I prefer it on Labor Day weekend for sure.
Maybe another one thru the season too!
Our 2nd largest crowd ever was at night on a weekday.

God, I remember going to the Rice game in 2011 or 2012 when we played on a Thursday night, it was about 40 degrees, and it rained. They made us sit on the visitors side since it was a televised game. I think the announced number was like 5,122? Sad days for UAB football. Makes me really appreciate what we have going now.

Those were the days. Surprised we weren't asked to do this to appear as a larger crowd.
