So, App. State did the same thing ODU did in basketball a few years ago. They get ranked No. 25 in the polls and then lose the next game and get booted out.

Game day! Coach Whitcomb said LaRussa is 2nd in the nation when it comes to passing yards as a starter. I couldn't verify that stat but whatever!!

Well we did win the first game vs Marshall. Then we lost to WKU.

Here is what I'm seeing.

When you have to play a LB that literally has only one hand, against a predominantly passing offense, you're in trouble.

LaRussa has matured greatly.
He doesn't force it to the primary call, goes through his progressions, and checks down when necessary.
He is accurate and has a stronger arm than one might expect from a player of his size.

He may not be Taylor Heinicke, but he is the closest thing before or since.

This Defense makes me sad.

Can we get the streaker back and hand him the ball?

I remember our poor defenses of the past that couldn't tackle, were awful at gap coverage, and very often seemed out of position in the secondary.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't ever remember our defense being so sluggish and SLOW as it seems to be this season.

We have absolutely no discipline today. Flags on every drive offense and defense. It is KILLING us.
