Future conference schedules
As I think it is clear that the Sun Belt will stay at an 8 game conference schedule that means we — and everybody else — will always miss 1 opponent from the other division. This year we miss Louisiana and next year we miss Texas St.

2020 I guess wedon t know yet but is this the pattern: you drop a team who you play on the road from the other division? So we played Texas St on the road this year and don t play them next year. The team we skipped this year is a home game next year— Louisiana.

If that is the pattern we will drop either South Alabama or Ark St in 2020 since we play both on the road next year and TexasSt will come back on in 2020 as a home game.

Is that the pattern?

No one knows outside of the inner circle of Conference ADs & Presidents/Chancellors.

But I truly believe the SBC messed up a great scheduling opportunity;
Should always play the return games the following years and the conference should've selected an annual cross-divisional matchup. That way each team knows at least 5 opponents every season moving forward.

It bothers me to not play a team h/h before skipping them again.

Hope the conference straightens this mess out soon. I would not like to see Troy dropped from South's schedule for any length of time.

The Troy/South Alabama match up is the only protected cross divisional match up in the conference, that will be played every year.

I like that it is protected but I am sure it is part of what causes the random and unbalanced scheduling.

I'd like to see every team get a protected cross division rival. Seems like that would make it better to me having an even number of remaining cross division teams to work with.

I would too. Right now I know USA plays the other 4 SBC West schools plus Troy every year. Troy knows they play the other 4 SBC East schools and USA every year. Every other team only knows they play the other 4 division schools each year. There’s something to be said for knowing you play certain schools every year that builds rivalries. And we have some good candidates at the top of this list!

Arkansas State - App State
Louisiana - Georgia Southern
TXST - Georgia State
ULM - Coastal Carolina

Love this idea only think is I want App State. They were actually the first team that is currently in this conference that I watched pay live when I was a kid, so for some reason when the Cajuns are down and out they are my go too team.
