This was my second game to attend this year but the feeling was different from games played in the past. I use to go to the games and there was little if any excitement about the team. In fact it was like going to a picnic with strangers.
.
But last night there was optimism in the eyes of the fans. From pre-game to exiting the stadium the feeling has changed. It is no longer how bad we are going to get beat but how will we win. Fans now EXPECT to win. And its a good feeling.

Clark has done a magnificent job building this football team, but we never lost belief:
It might be time for a 58-56 sermon on the power of belief.
There was a different feeling at the Old Gray Lady last night. One part of it is that our fans do indeed believe in Coach Clark and in this team. They gave us hope, and then they built that into confidence in the team. The other part is that our fans actually did the things that make a stadium full of people change into a home field advantage. We were loud and proud. We got louder when NT was on offense, making changes at the line more difficult. On third downs we made it hard for them to even hear the snap count. We got on the officials when they screwed up (often). We fed the team energy. When the bench turned toward us and whirled towels and gestured for noise, we came through for them instead of leaving them hanging. When our team did something good, we praised them, loudly.
We, as UAB fans, did our job and did it well, and that's not something that has happened that often. More than that, we kept doing it from kickoff till the final gun. Pat yourselves on the back, Blazers. That was a no **** big time home field advantage that we equipped our team with. No one else could do it, and we came through for them.
Well done.

That's another point. We're used to rocking Bartow with that chant, but seldom does the football team get that particular support and praise. They did last night, and it was well earned.

Completely agree. Everyone in the stadium seems to expect victory now. The atmosphere was great last night. I also think the tailgating and pre-game atmosphere outside the stadium is light years ahead of what it's been in the past. We have a legit game day experience now.
When we had bad coaching, the stands would be pretty empty at this point of the season. Win and they will come. Win consistently, and they will believe.

I can’t ever recall hearing the slow, thunderous, deliberate U - A - B chant in a football environment. My jaw dropped when I heard it so loud on the TV and radio broadcasts. Great job to everyone in attendance. I’ll do my best at Kyle Field next month.
I went down to the sideline at the end of the game (I do this about once or twice a year). And while I've been down there for bigger crowds, I was taken aback at how loud the fans were. I went to Trey Ragland right after the 4th down stop, and before I could say anything to him about the crowd, he said to me, "I've never heard it this loud before!"
He took the words out of my mouth. It was awesome. It's what we fought for! It's what we believed in all along. We are who we thought we could be, who we dreamed of being, not just a few years ago, but way back from the beginning.
We are now literally living the dream we've always had. We are a true contender for a championship.
Of course, there's still a lot of football left, and this week could be VERY tricky. Our guys need to focus on the prize.

I had an awesome time on Saturday. I brought a couple of friends that had so much fun I think they're going to sign up for tickets next season. I enjoyed not being the only one to stand and cheer at the game. It's what I like to do...and it was also cold and I needed to move around to get my blood flowing.
Just wanted to say that I'm really happy for everyone in this thread. Thanks for bringing back the program so sidewalk fans like myself can enjoy it.

That's awesome and thanks for investing in the program. It's fans like you that we need to take us to the next level.

If you brought people to our games in the past and failed to convert them. Now is the time to drag them back. But hurry, we don't know how long this will last. LOL
