I've noticed in person that refs don't love WMU, the team, the coach, anything about it, not sure the origination of that but their coldness is an easy read. One tandem in particular for the NCHC, with the big fat tall baby faced guy, just HATES us. We draw them often as well.

Anyone have any insight?

Matt Shegos used to have a hard-on for WMU, not sure why. When Culhane was our head coach MS used to call penalties against us at the absolute worst time. Maybe because he could get away with it with Culhane? Murray seems like a harder case.

scUM players train very hard to draw penalties, of course all teams do but the Wolverines are really good at it. I'm sure their coaching staffs spend a lot of time with their players on how best to draw penalties. All it takes is 2-3 at the right time of the game to ice a win. Sucks, but there it is.

I remember when I was a student and in the CCHA days when Aaron would ref, man he was brutal. I’ll never forget one game he was awful the lunatics started chanting “Aaron! Aaron! Aaron! You suck!” Lol and I remember he was waiting for the face off and he shook his head and laughed lol so classic

Do the lunatics still chant “a rope! A tree! Hang the referee!” Always a favorite of mine lol

Not as a whole, no , but me and my group do when we're at games.

I always loved booing the refs the moment they stepped out on the ice, even when warmups started!! Lol those were the days I miss.

Unfortunately I was a student during the Culhane days (06-10) the only year that was fun was 06 when Letetsu was a freshman, his only year at wmu but then we decided to crap the bed vs Alaska Fairbanks in the first round of the CCHA tourney. That team was on a tear in the second half of the season, sweeping a good Michigan state team to end the regular season who went on to win a national championship the following year.

Then the following two years I believe we won 8 games each year but win or lose I was at those games supporting the team. Then my senior year in 09-10 we made it to the second round of the playoffs vs Michigan and were swept
