I was at game, first row, right in front of Evan when he came off the field with his injury : looked like broken finger left hand. When he returned from locker room, he did not look in great pain—-young kids....

If we can combine Mack’s philosophy generally with Bloomgren’s short-yardage game, I think that’s an overall winner.

I think we can come a lot closer to recruiting players who can run Mack's NCCU offense than we can for Bloomgren's Stanford offense. At least for the next few years. I kind of hope that maybe Mack has said, "Let me try my way," and Bloomgren trusts him enough to go along.

One thing that I have noticed in the past 3-4 years is how much Mensa's UH and TexasU offenses are unlike what he ran under Bailiff at Rice.

Something tells me that he won't have nearly as much success against other opponents as he did against FIU. The announcers' comments about Marshall doing the same thing tends to make me believe that FIU's defensive plan is to allow the QB run as long as they can shut down most other offensive options.

Is that really what “something” tells you? GO OWLS!

So if you look for misdirection
I hope we throw more soon
Our QBs need protection
Let’s go Rice U

Good game & thanks for all the trivia. I’ll add my actual game thoughts over in the new post-game thread.

Final 'attendance' trivia:

FIU game thread -- 10 pages
UAB game thread -- 19 pages
UTSA game thread -- 19 pages

Mentions of cleaning out gutters have dropped to zero, sadly.

This one’s on me, guys. I had a game plan to post more but had no Wi-Fi or LTE past the first quarter. Not to make excuses but I believe we can chalk this up to Rice beating Rice.*
