RE: Week Eight
Ole Miss/ Auburn has big implications for where their seasons end up and likely the futures of the head coaches. As a lifelong fan, I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop with Kentucky football, but I think we are legit in every facet except stretching the field in the passing game. Historically, I am not too worried about the Vanderbilt game, but I am concerned about Tennessee. We always seem to find a way to lose to them when we are favored.
I have not been keeping up this week, but I wonder if Saban will put the pedal to the metal and start Tua. Local radio has been talking up that Tua could absolutely shred UT's secondary, so if he put in 4 good drives, they very well could be up at least 21 after the first quarter, which would allow Hurts to comfortably finish it. This feels like the week that the whole conference is taking a deep breath for the final stretch.

RE: Week Eight
Beyond Alabama winning, I would not be particularly surprised if any of the point spread underdogs in the other SEC games pulled an upset. To date, it is that kind of year.

Agreed, except for Auburn. I think they bounce back in a big way.

If Clemson and Notre Dame remain undefeated, they're both in the playoffs. The winner of the SEC - assuming it's a school from the West - is in. The fourth spot is going to the winner of the Big Ten, Big XII or a second team from the SEC.

Possibly. There are some interesting scenarios still to be eliminated.
Scenario 1: L.S.U. narrowly beats Alabama, and then beats the winner of the East. Michigan loses to Ohio State who loses to Michigan State. Iowa loses in the CCG. The Big 10 is eliminated.
Washington State loses to either Stanford this week or Washington the last week of the regular season. The PAC is eliminated.
West Virginia beats Texas and loses to Oklahoma. Oklahoma loses in the CCG. Big 12 is eliminated.
Notre Dame and Clemson win out and join L.S.U. and Alabama in the CFP.
Scenario 2: Alabama wins out. This gives everyone else in the SEC at least a 2nd loss.
Notre Dame drops the game to U.S.C.. Clemson wins out. The winner of Michigan / Ohio State wins out. I think it would be Michigan. Texas plays Oklahoma again in the Big 12 CCG and both enter with only 1 loss. Then your CFP will be Alabama vs Notre Dame and Clemson vs the winner of Oklahoma / Texas part 2. Why? Michigan's loss to N.D..
I no longer see a path for the Big 10 to get 2 in, and personally I don't think Alabama is going to lose in the Regular season, if they lose at all.
