CBS Top 100
top 100 players

No UC players in the CBS top 100. I would have thought Cumberland would make this list, not sure if we have anyone else right now that could.justofy being on the list. I was thinking JC has a chance to be an AA level player by seasons end, if he can take the next step.

Mick has mentioned they've schemed several offensive sets similar to what SK ran his senior year. That might help pad his stats a bit.

Cumberland's on par with most of those guys on the list. Good thing I don't give much credence to lists like that.

Predicition: Romeo Langford won't see February before being out for the season injured. IU's had a lousy record with injuries lately and well, Langford just doesn't look that durable.

Lindy's has Cumberland at 50 in their top 150. First team All AAC.

Cumberland is certainly deserving and will make other lists. It probably speaks more to our program's lack of national visibility as a postseason contender, than it does to the quality of any single Bearcat player.

The household names among college basketball players typically can be traced to some combination of:
1. MacDonald's high school All American pedigree,
2. playing for a blue blood program, or,
3. on a team that advances deep in the tournament where media and a national audience witness their performance.

Not really. It was one list. Lindy's has UC in the top 25 and Cumberland in their top 50 players. Lindy's UC preview looks like a love letter to Cronin. They really respect the program. Each media site or writer has their own preferences. For the record Lindy's has Xavier at 38. AAC Four tournament teams in the preview, Big East three tournament teams.

There a very few household names in college basketball. It is mostly about the coaches. Cronin is widely considered a very good coach right under that elite tier according to media sites.

Cumberland not being in that top 100 is silly, but lists like this are often silly anyways. I expect a huge year from Jarron.

Yeah, Jarron not being on the list is a head-scratcher, but oh well. I expect him to average 15-16 points minimum and make first team all-AAC. My only concern is will he have to be a volume scorer or will other guys step up enough that he can still be an efficient shooter?

You identified the biggest concern in my mind for this year's team. Cumberland is certainly capable as that scoring leader and I do anticipate SK type numbers. But will the supporting cast be able to produce those points in the event of an injury or a shooting slump? Last year's team had incredible production balance that few squads ever achieve.

CBS Top 100? Meh. Two words. Gary Clark. How many preseason lists or national recognition did he get? What counts is the end of the season and the end of a career. Jarron will get his when it's all said and done. Besides, Pitino is lobbying for him behind the scenes. 03-shhhh

Gary Clark was 57 on the same list last preseason. Really smart basketball people had a ton of respect for Gary Clark and everything he brought to the table.

Jarron is absolutely a top 50 player in the country. Foolish to think otherwise.

from the same very website

3. Cane Broome | Cincinnati
2017-18 stats: 7.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 20.5 minutes per game

It's a year late, but I believe I am trending to the point to where I can say "told ya so." I had Broome as a breakout candidate last year -- he averaged 7.9 points per game in just over 20 minutes per game -- but expect those numbers to blossom significantly with Jacob Evans and Gary Clark out the door.

i hope cumberland's stats aren't too gaudy. imo it means we're dependant upon him. i'd like to see around fourteen to fifteen points and like four assists. it seems like he's trending towards point which i think might allow us to play faster and taller
