MyBB 2019 Player Discussion Thread: Curran Scott
Junior G Curran Scott

Admittedly, I fell too hard for Curran Scott last year. In a strong freshman year at Charlotte, it looked like he had answered all the questions that kept him from being recruited by high majors hitting 44% of his 3-point attempts and finishing through contact pairing an elite foul rate with an 83% FT percentage. Thrust into the starting lineup for the first 8 games, he didn't shoot quite as well as expected from deep (33%) and he looked overwhelmed defensively by stronger, faster guards.

I'm not sure his early season performance warranted a lineup change, but the team was 4-4 and Haith replaced Scott with Corey Henderson where they immediately picked up their biggest win of the season against KState. That left Scott buried on the bench, where he averaged just 10mpg from then until mid-February and didn't help his case shooting just 29% when he did play.

A 6-game flourish to end the season was enough to bring his stats up to a reasonable level and give hope for a 2019 breakout. With Henderson and Wheeler gone, the guard spots next to Taplin are once again wide open and with another year's experience under his belt, I'm willing to buy into Curran Scott once again as the answer.

2018 stats: 14.9mpg, 5.9ppg, 2.1rpg, 0.7apg, 0.3spg, 1.1topg, 0.0bpg, 42.7% 2PT, 35.3% 3PT, 84.1% FT
2019 proj.: 22.7mpg, 8.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.0apg, 0.5pg, 1.3topg, 0.0bpg, 46.7% 2PT, 35.5% 3PT, 76.8% FT

I like the write ups, full of stats and observations.

It will be interesting to see how these players develope. Before conference play starts we'll have to check to see if players have added new trends and who makes the jump to improve overall team play.
