Jacob Evans with the Golden State Warriors
We can use this thread to track and discuss him. My favorite bearcat the last few years!
He was a DNP last night in their opener, despite several other no names playing. I certainly hope he gets his shot back. Any inside info on what happened to his shot (some injury that Mick kept on the DL or what)??

RE: Jacob Evans with the Golden State Warriors
I saw a video over the summer where his form was whack. Sometimes people get into their heads and convince them to change their game for the Pros. Sometimes his shot's just off for a little. Time will tell.

Chad made mention that they identified that his shot was too flat to ever go in consistently from the NBA line. Apparently, that is why he is reworking his shot. Hopefully playing with 2 of the best shooters ever will get it fixed.

Yeah, I can't imagine a better team to be on if you need to improve your jump shot. Kerr, Curry, and Thompson are ranked #1, #4, and #11 respectively in all-time 3-point field goal percentage.

I watched one of their preseason games Klay went off in. I could watch that guy shoot forever, every shot is in perfect balance.

Wow. I didn't realize they were THAT good. Curry has an interesting little wrist flick that I love watching, but Thompson looks like you took a perfect shot from the matrix and implanted it in his brain. His is the shot that every coach in the country should be trying to teach their kids to replicate. Just absolutely textbook.
But anyways, Jake is too hard of a worker not to get it figured out. It's not easy for guys to break into an NBA line-up especially on the best team assembled in the last 10 years.

What's amazing about Curry with those numbers he often is taking high degree of difficulty threes. He's taking pull ups off the dribble, he's taking threes from really deep, he's taking threes with small windows against elite defenders...the guy is just incredible.

Completely agree. If he shot 3's that normal shooters take he'd be well over a 50% 3 point shooter. Lots of people say the Warriors dominance took a lot of fun out of the game but I feel the opposite. To watch these two all time shooters plus a guy who's going to go down as one of the top 10 basketball players of all time is incredible. It'd be so awesome for JEIII to get into the rotation and have the added bonus of having one of our guys playing with the Warriors.

Injury or not. Jacob Evans shooting down the stretch last year almost cost UC the conference tournament and was a huge reason why UC lost to Nevada.

I think allowing 27 points over the last 10 minutes of regulation was probably the biggest reason they lost to Nevada. Would have been nice if Evans hit a couple more shots but he was still 7-17, 5-6 from the line and had 19 points.

I think it was 7 for 19. Way too many shots for him. Either way all UC guards and wings shot really poorly while the bigs were the only group to average more points than shot attempts.
It always comes down to guard play and making shots.

Certainly the UC bigs were more efficient on offense (they were a combined 12 for 17). A UC team up 19 with 10 minutes to play probably shouldn't have to score another point to win. 27 points in 10 minutes is just unfathomably bad from that team. Offensively it wasn't a bad game despite the last 10 minutes being bad on offense. It still shouldn't have mattered. Even the 8 they scored during that stretch should have easily been enough.

He needed to stay. Not ready for prime time. I hope he banks his first round money so he has a nice balance when he gets cut and heads to Europe.
Sad so sad!

I think if he stays he gets exposed and doesn’t get drafted. His numbers at the end of the year were bad. How much was injury and how much was in his head.

He has guaranteed money for 3 years right? I still think he will be fine.

After taxes (CA big taxes) that is $1,925,000 or $640,000 per year. Assume he saves $500,000 each year he has a fund of $1.5 million which at 8% is $120,000 per year.
Most of these players would not save that much.
Sad so sad!

Of course you're assuming he would magically not have shooting problems at UC if he had come back, which likely would result in not being picked in the first round in the upcoming draft, not getting a guaranteed contract, and not getting a year of NBA service time. Not so sad. He made the right decision.
