RE: The Tribe Plaza
It is now ten minutes since I read the article. In that time, I have looked up a few things.

Michelangelo. Yep. Male body parts on his sculptures. Covered up by the Catholic Church, and Queen Victoria. Are the students/writers aware of this? In sympathy with this? If "David" comes to campus, what happens?

Proposed defacement of art work deemed unacceptable. Taliban. Nazis. Are the students/writers aware of this? In sympathy with this?

Homoerotic art. Yep. Male body parts on display. Are the students/writers aware of this? What's the message here?

It is unfathomable to me that, in this PC culture which dominates our world, we have come to this, especially at a liberal arts school. Isn't history taught anymore? This is not rocket science. If some liberal professors don't take the students/writers to task ... remedial history classes should be considered.

There is only one explanation, because I refuse to believe that there is complete ignorance of the above.

The students/writers want the mascot to be a transgender. Don't beat around the bush and claim to be shocked; just come out and say it.

Hopefully, the statue will not be neutered by the time of the Richmond game so I can have my picture taken with the back end, while sporting some feathers!!

It is an animal after all, not a human.
Much ado about nothing.

First they come for the animals ... then they come for the humans.

It's a well-known fact that mythological creatures are prone to genital tumors. The thought of these kids drawing attention to her tragic sickness is both insensitive and unforgivable.

Here is the Wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffin

Here are three interesting quotes from the article:

"In heraldry, a griffin always has forelegs like an eagle's hind-legs. A type of griffin with the four legs of a lion was distinguished by perhaps only one English herald of later heraldry as the Opinicus, which also had a camel-like neck and a short tail that almost resembles a camel's tail." --- So, since the statue has front legs of a lion, is it really an Opinicus??!!

"In British heraldry, a male griffin is shown without wings, its body covered in tufts of formidable spikes, with a short tusk emerging from the forehead, as for a unicorn. The female griffin with wings is more commonly used." --- Ho ho!! Since the statue has wings, is it a female? If so, then it certainly shouldn't have any testicles!

"The official seal of Purdue University was adopted during the University's centennial in 1969." -- Apparently that seal has a griffin. Probably of interest only to NJ Alum.

Lastly, I hope this picture shows up; if not, it is on the Wiki link. This is a really cool looking Griffin at the Farkasreti Cemetery in Budapest.

No male anatomy ... but had smaller space to work with.

What's this? Who defaced the Jefferson statue? When did this happen?

A few years back, when the CAA actually had a TV contract for football, they would play short blurbs from each school during the game. The best part of the Tribe spiel was the photos showing the TJ statue wearing cool shades. Another good piece of student recruiting gone ....without a CAA TV contract.
