Opening Night - Can Grizz Go 5-5 the First 10 Games?
10 games in the first 22 days. 4 at home, 6 on the road. 3 almost guaranteed losses - twice at Utah and at Golden State. 2 games at Utah in the first 7 games of the season is pretty tough.

But Mike is healthy. Chandler doesn't need crutches anymore. Mack looks capable at backup point guard. Bringing JJJ off the bench to start the season makes sense. Get some rebounding and 3-point shooting, and we might get off to a decent start.

@ Pacers - L
Hawks - W
@ Utah - L
@ Kings - W
Suns - W
Wizards - W
@ Utah - L
@ Suns - W
@ Warriors - L
Nuggets - L

Imo, going 5-5 would require either 2 road wins, at Sacramento and Phoenix, or beating the Nuggets at home in the 10th game.

What say you?

Down 14 in the 3rd. Grizz have 14 rebounds. Pacers have 34. Grizz shooting 17-51 so you would expect a few more boards.

Brooks barely playing is a shame. He’s a player we should develop.

Only good thing is it is the first game. Last year they appeared to be the best team in the league at the start of the season. Maybe that will be reversed this year. I doubt it though. There's just not enough talent.

Someone needs to tell the guys that to be Grit/Grind you have to at least play defense.

Should have signed Tyreke by any means necessary.

If we have another bad year then it's time to officially part ways with grit and grind then start the rebuild.

It is going to be a tough year. The Grizz have three max players who are mediocre surrounded by role players who by definition of the term are also mediocre. Mediocre "stars" + role players = bad season.

Pretty ugly. Pacers are good, projected to win high 40s by Vegas, and are running back basically the same team. I think we see a shakeup in the starting lineup soon.

Chandler can't guard 3's, so don't see how JB can keep starting him at the 3. He's a stretch 4 now. Plus he can't play 30+ minutes, which screws up the rotations if he starts. Why NBA is so great. Pacers decided Chandler was the weak link. Iso'd Bogdanovic on CP over and over. Bogan blows by CP at will. I think Kyle Anderson ends up the starter at 3.

JMyke plays hard and tries to rebound. But he's only 6'8", and gets pushed around. Sabonis pushed him out of the way for rebounds all night. Problem is JJJ is not a good rebounder yet, so does it make sense making him the starting 4? Grizz want to get something in trade for JMyke, so my guess is JMyke starts for now.

The Grizz have the 5th highest payroll in the West and the 10th highest in the NBA. But Vegas has them at #22 (#13 in the West) in win totals. Either props to the Grizz for being a spender or shame on them for crappy bang for their buck.

I don't see where they get points. Conley will probably get better but even if he and Gasol average 35 I think we would be hard pressed to get to 100 on most nights. That means we have to play grit and grind defense which we don't seem to have the personnel for that either.

Parsons was a terrible signing and Gasol is old

I think the first thing they need to fix is the rebounding. When we shoot 29%, then there will be lots of offensive rebounds available. But with Marc at the top of the key initiating the offense, he won't be getting many. Kyle is a slasher, so he will be around the rim a lot, 7'3" wingspan, 7.2 rebounds per 36 minutes last year. So let him and JMyke be responsible for offensive rebounds, while Marc and the guards drop back to stop the transition baskets. Making shots will help too, obviously. We shot 44% as a team last year, so the 29% last night hopefully is a one off.

Well, you're holding serve after two as the Grizz beat Atlanta tonight 131-117. Garrett Temple had 30. I still can't believe the Kings sent him to us for Ben McLemore. Good night in the FEF.

Brooks played last night and showed why he was a second round pick, very disappointing performance.

Even though the Hawks are horrific it was a good win. Don't think Temple will keep it up but if he can average 12-15 that would be a big bonus. Decent game front Jaren Jackson as well

Jackson looked unstoppable inside against the Hawks ... many players do against them , but for a rookie in their second NBA game ... outstanding.
