Well, like any statistic, it can be spun.
Some analysts call it a "slacker" stat. Others, like X&O Labs, call it the most important stat on the offense.

For a team that converts on first and second down most of the time it is almost irrelevant.
However, for us in games like Marshall, FIU, and UNCC it is a huge stat, and one that should be addressed.

Exactly where did you get that 25% statistic?

Yes, just because there are four downs doesn’t mean 3rd down is 25% of a team’s downs. Basic math fails when people make illogical conclusions and assumptions

Maybe there was someone out of view but I thought they reviewed it and confirmed it which means they would have used the camera shots we saw.

The whole series of events that had to occur for the GW FG to happen is so bizarre.

Howdy, when they show us right before folks get in position down on the line for the FG count the heads in the middle near the ball. It is hard but I can do it (old eyes & brain but a big TV) and that is where the extra guy is (an extra down lineman) and we did have 12 on the field. Oddly enough that turned out to be a good thing and I am sure it was part of our master strategy to win the game.

Isn't this a contract renewal year for assistant coaches? I remember hearing back in 2016 that assistant coaches were on 2 year contracts. If so it's probably Wilders last chance to save the program on defense.

I am super excited we won, but in a morbid sort of way I have had fun telling my VT friends that they were the worst team on our schedule.

Bailey Cate is 19th in punting yards.
Garner is 32nd in tackles.
Ximines tied for 3rd in sacks and 4th in YDSL.

I didn't see it on Sports Center, but we were the opening story on College Football Friday on ESPNU

One thing about the 2018 ODU Football Monarchs. They don't win often, but when they do, they do so with style.

I would venture to say that ODU has gotten more national publicity from its two wins this season than any FCS school has all season, even conceding that the two wins were unique.

Wilder said in the interview that the team crowd surfed Harper, Rice, and LaRussa around the locker room after the victory. Sounds like team morale isn't completely lost.

Kudos to the staff for having that play ready (on the 2nd attempt) It was neat to see how prepared the guys were when they realized the kick would be short. Ximenes, in particular, immediately jumps into his assignment.

Bump.
This is important as it shows that all things ODU football are not completely in the terlit.

If he had even half a defense we would be okay...Would have won the ECU game...won the UNC-C game...and won the FIU game. Would be sitting 1 shy of bowl eligibility right now.
