RE: ECU proposing increasing student fees
Winning will fix this, for the most part. Season ticket sales are down 10,000 from 2010. I've heard that we only sold 14K this year.

Quote:Last year's 16,130 season tickets marked a 15.18 percent decrease from Montgomery's initial season (more than 18,500 tickets sold), and it's been four years (2014) since the Pirates last surpassed 20,000 season ticket sales. But even with numbers down the last few seasons, the Pirates have still managed to lead the AAC in average attendance, including in 2017.

Good move. Need to raise money and students should be a part of it. Ecu is still way cheaper on fees than most schools.

We are spending way less than most schools in the AAC. It’s time to step it up. Fans, alums, students, everybody.

That would also reduce $$ you now get in fees... Sounds like ECU has real big problems.

The decline in enrollment may not be all that alarming as it came 1 year after a record enrollment and immediately after two state universities in the general area became special $500 per semester schools.

If it becomes a trend it would be quite alarming.

Enrollment was down 1.4% and fluctuations are normal, so that's not overly alarming.

ECU's athletic revenues are about equal with USF and Memphis currently. Revenues are up 8.3% from 2016 to 2017, and up 34.9% since joining the conference.

ECU athletics is limited by law on state funding, and that's a real disadvantage compared to most of our conference mates. We also sponsor more sports than many name brand schools, like Alabama (18 vs 16). Adding a $75 student fee is only about $6 per month per student and would kick in over $2 mill a year. Getting decent football back will go a long way toward generating revenue. Still waiting for our megamillions contract announcement from Aresco. Things are down but not end of the world catastrophic yet.

Here is a projected breakdown of ECU's Athletic Budget for 2019-2020 "if" the proposed increase is not improved:

$36.2 Million Budget
$15.7 Million (43.4%) would come from existing student fees
$6.4 Million (17.7%) Ticket Sales
$6.6 Million (18.2%) Booster Donations
$3.5 Million (9.7%) NCAA/Conf Revenue
$3.4 Million (9.4%) Other Revenue
632,000 (1.6%) University Support

RE: ECU proposing increasing student fees
ECU already had a planned increase to the student athletic fees. But, it was $30 next year, and a few more steps in following years. Now it’s $75 this coming year all at once.

Ticket sells is all sports, while back in 2009 in a 45,000 seat DFS football ticket sells generated over 8 million. Terry Holland said after the last expansion if season tickets sold out and all games sold for football the ticket sell revenue for football only would be 12.5 million.

so the old adage winning cures all ills is most certainly true.

Winning does cure all, but winning isn't coming this year, and even if we fire Mo everyone who's bailed isn't coming back until winning comes back. So there is no quick fix coming.

How sweet would it be if - in addition to getting our football season ticket base back above 20K - we were selling lots of basketball tix in a year or two.

Max out season tix sell for football and a huge increase in basketball ticket revenue would probably be around 14 million a Year for just those two. Where as right now we are below 7 million. That doubles the money. Baseball is trending towards turning a profit over expenses this year.
