03-puke

I could pull for them without being sick.

1. Everyone else gets a nice check (not life-changing, but still a nice chunk).

2. It's a step towards improving the perception of the conference (I say step because someone is always going to pop in and say "nuh uh, it really only helps App state").

3. It would ensure Scott Satterfield's days are numbered.

4. App State is being coached by a guy who is a common denominator between their best in years in the FCS and a very good start in FBS. It would be good for them to get to reach the top while you still have that coach like that because they don't come around often.

And I might catch hell for that last one, but it's true. At one time our fans kinda took for granted that you're always going to have an Erk Russell or Paul Johnson running the show, but it's just not true. Cherish these seasons while you have them...

Paul Johnson was an App State alum. He wasn't about to propel the Georgia Southern program that far so of course he left. Satterfield may leave but I doubt it would be before his kids finish High School.

Just an appearance would be outstanding for the Sun Belt. A win would crush it for all of us! GS playing spoiler and winning at home against CrApp would be PRICELESS!

If you beat us and that loss ended up being the reason we didn't go to the NY6, there would be a price. About $400,000 per school in lost CFP revenue.

I'd never ask our team to lay down for anyone, can't imagine any program doing that.

Now the refs may get a Christmas bonus...

Troy losing hurt more than App winning out helps. Both the MW and AAC are well above us now.

App is at a high level. Georgia Southern is returning. Troy has a great national brand. Getting one ranked every year is really good but we'll start getting some national respect when we can get 2 ranked at the same time and both staying there for a couple weeks. Troy had that chance in 2016 but then lost the week after getting ranked. I can't wait to see a western team getting into the national conversations too but it just doesn't look like anyone's anywhere close.

App does no have a FBS win over a team with a winning record at the moment and Gardner Webb is 1-6 with a DIV II win I think. Your SOS is rank is at the bottom of the FBS with not much help coming. If you win out you might only have three wins over winning FBS programs. If it is between you and a MW and or AAC one loss champ it is likely not going to happen as the playoff committee goes off their SOS rankings heavily it helps keep the G5's from being given the benefit of the doubt. A USM win this year looks like it would not have helped either with SOS but not having that win is huge when comparing resumes if some on the committee do not value SOS as much.

I agree. It's a long shot, but if we win out and are ranked in the top 25, we will certainly be in the discussion. If we get some help with some conference championship upsets and get in, jackpot. If don't, we will get tons of publicity in the process. Smaller jackpot. Lots of football left.

I agree with this, which is why I doubt a NY6 is possible. However, I think a nationally ranked App team plays in a high visibility game between Christmas and New Years if... if we win all the rest of our regular season and championship games. Best case is that we get ranked in top 25 after the Georgia Southern game and stay there the rest of the season. I don’t think we get ranked before GS even if we win convincingly against ULL.

RE: From ESPN article... Really bold Predictions, App State to NY6 Bowl
It really is not a bold prediction at all. Been wondering when this article would surface. App is good enough to be in the mix and frankly, I think good enough to whip the contenders. This is where the conference needs good leadership. Push App for the bowl, get the PR releases out there, tell the world what App has to offer. Pop the question: can anyone else in G5 take Penn State to OT? I would hope the App athletic department and the commish could join forces and shout it out. Spend money, sell the idea.

Cincinnati doesn't have a win over a + .500 team. By your logic a (calling a spade a spade) relatively weak Sunbelt should not have a chance to get ranked because the conference is weak. At some point you have to recognize a team for crushing teams they should crush. If App had an average win margin of 3 all season we wouldn't have a claim. To date Clemson has only only played 1 good team and the rest have been inferior. Should they be kept out of the top 25 for the same reason?

Satterfield leaves when the checks on the table. Try telling your staff they'll have to wait to triple their income because your kids... Keeping in mind that it's the staff that makes you you. That's crazy talk.

I doubt we make an NY6 game, but if we can win out and finished ranked this year we will be in good shape heading into next year. We have almost the entire team back and two winnable P5 games on the schedule. For now I'm just going to enjoy the ride.

If that check gets to 7 figures any coach has to listen.

As for the NY6 game, the odds are long but it's fun to think about a Belt team getting there. I might even root for you if you did get there.

South Carolina looks more and more winnable every week. Fans were expecting 10 wins this year. Given their remaining schedule they'll be lucky to get bowl eligible.

That's pretty much every year for the chicken fans.

Given a MAC team won't make it this year, I'd love to see ASU get it. Spread the love to the Sun Belt instead of another AAC/MWC team.

Going to an NY6 game is a blast. I know for me, personally, our 2016 bid might've been a once in a lifetime thing.

Plus I'll always have a soft spot for ASU ever since they beat scUM in Ann Arbor.

What people aren't taking into account is HOW App State has won our games. Yes, the schedule may not have been the most difficult, but despite that, we are #18 in Game Control. Game Control is a measure of how well a team controlled games from start to finish, accounting for the difficulty of the games it has played. This is a metric that the CFP comittee has admitted to using in the past to rank teams. Just for comparison, UCF is #25 in Game Control, Fresno State is #27, Cincinnati is #51, and USF is #84! We are not just winning games (a la USF), we are completely controlling them.
