Bobby Wilder has shaken things up at ODU. Gone are:

Defensive coordinator Rich Nagy
Safeties coach Kermit Buggs
Cornerbacks coach Sam Perryman
Offensive line coach Chris Malone
Strength and conditioning Coach Ryan Martin
Strength and conditioning Coach Joe Makovec

The writing has been on the wall for DC Rich Nagy and his staff for a while. Last in C-USA and 118th in FBS in total defense tells the tale. No hints on new hires yet.

WKU fans have been saying it but now since ESPN is reporting it, it must be true 05-stirthepot

Tyson Helton is expected to be announced as the WKU head coach in the next day or two.

Rumors are that Bryan Ellis will be brought in as part of the offensive staff (called plays in the bowl game vs. Memphis)

Other rumors that some of the current staff will be retained. Most likely the DC is safe. OL coach too unless he gets courted elsewhere. Other rumors that UT's OL coach will be coming with Helton.

Hmm. Seems like ODU got rid of everyone BUT the problem.

^ you may well be right. He will be on a very short lease. If very noticeable improvements are not evident next year, he'll be gone.

Mack Brown will be announced tomorrow. He is a great guy (not sure if he is a sinner or not, I guess to his detriment 03-lmfao) and a great recruiter....but man o man he's older than ol' beav and loves old style smash mouth football, which only works with the fans IF you win big.

Used to play golf with him when we were both young whippersnappers at USM......and when he was at Tulane, he let me and a friend into the Green wave locker room (despite our black and gold clothing and dirty looks from his coaches and players) to wish him luck the rest o' the year. He defused the whole situation by saying "These are my friends, who we used to call the renegades at USM, so treat them as YOUR friends, guys". Never forgot his humility after a tough loss (Brett Favor came in as a freshman and led the Eagles to a close win) Everything was copacetic afterwards! 04-cheers

As some of these jobs appear to be filling, I think Littrell will be returning to North Texas for another season. 04-cheers

RE: 2018 football coaching changes
Missed it somehow but Central Michigan fired their coach on Friday. Interesting story though while reading up on it.

https://thespun.com/news/john-bonamego-f...ed-stadium

Paulette Bonamego, wife of head football coach John Bonamego, was banned from Kelly/Shorts Stadium for much of this season following an Oct. 13 altercation with Central Michigan play-by-play broadcaster Don Chiodo in the press box.

When Chiodo left the broadcast booth for a bathroom break, the coach’s wife stopped him in the hallway. She was upset at Chiodo’s on-air comments surrounding the CMU football team’s effort against Ball State.

Witnesses told CMU Athletics staff she continued making a scene and yelling at Chiodo. During the altercation between the two, she told Chiodo that she and coach Bonamego could return to the National Football League at any given time if they wanted to.

No physical contact was made, but the head coach’s wife was banned from Kelly/Shorts Stadium after CMU’s Week 7 loss to Ball State.

RE: 2018 football coaching changes
And two stories in one..... USM AD is expected to be named AD at ECU on Wednesday which leads into story number 2.....ECU possibly firing their coach this weekend.

The East Carolina Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, reportedly to approve the contract of a new athletic director.

According to several sources with knowledge of the situation, Southern Mississippi athletic director Jon Gilbert is the expected to be the choice to fill the position that has been vacant since Jeff Compher was asked to resign last March.

Gilbert has ties to ECU special consultant Dave Hart, having served under him as executive senior associate athletic director when the two were at Tennessee. They also worked together previously at Alabama.

Hart, who is leading ECU’s 13-member search committee with chancellor Cecil Staton, had set Dec. 1 as the goal for having a new AD in place. Barring any surprises as Wednesday’s Trustees meeting, where “confidential personnel and legal matters” will be discussed, he’ll beat that deadline by three days.

The timing will allow Gilbert to make an evaluation of the Pirates’ struggling football program and presumably hire his own coach once Scottie Montgomery is fired as expected following Saturday’s season finale at NC State.

Scottie Montgomery - ECU

UConn and UConn fans have put all the blame on Bob Diaco on what is still going on. I think they give Edsall 3 or maybe even 4 years to turn things around.

Ive also heard that ECU does not have the money to buyout "Beam me up Scottie". He still has 2 years on a 5 year contract at 1.2 million per year.

UCONN set records for worst defense this ever in college football hard to imagine any head coach surviving that. ECU is in worse shape than we are, their coach is dragging the team down, at least we are anchored in mediocrity with DOC, that said I don't see either coach departing until 2020 season is over.

Wrong, Mo has already been told he’s out, official statement to be made after the NC State game. BOT meeting this Wednesday to discuss personnel situations pertaining to AD and FB HC and consult with legal counsel. This never happens until a hire is being made, no reason to have lawyers there unless you’re finalizing a contract. Word is a package deal, USM AD Gilbert and Butch Jones as FB HC.

That's what a $1M buyout will do. Plenty of frustration expressed on the odu boards.

Wonder if they go after Jeff Monken or away from that offense. If I wanted to run a run/triple option type offense, Jeff Monken would be my #1 choice

Ken Niumataloto would be my top choice by a hair and then Monken.
