30 years ago today...
Southern Miss - 38
Mississippi State - 21
That was the last game we played in Jackson and the last time we beat State. Thirty years! Hard to believe it’s been that long ago.

While some of those bully teams were sorry, many of the ones we beat were ranked.
The 42-14 beat down of the bullies at THEIR homecoming ranks right up there with the 38-8 thrashing of OP.
Many times we didn't have their talent, but we all BELIEVED, from the students to the fans to the coaches and to the players, and watching 6'4" 210 lb (maybe) Steve Carmody destroy All Amurican 6-5 245 lb Johnnie Cooks in that 42-14 rout, epitomized the whole thing.
Now we expect to lose, just like Toolame or Rice or Rutgers.
