With the lightening delay and rain, there were not 18,000 fans at Apogee last Saturday. Maybe 1800 butts in seats. Awful attendance regardless of the weather issues.

doesn't their joint only have 15,000 seats? if so, not bad of an average...i'd love to average less than 2000 less than capacity

Cool. Just lower your capacity to around 25-26k and you meet your goal without doing anything fan wise!

got it...instead of addressing your attendance issues, 11,000 below capacity per game, make fun of other schools and the good things they are doing

I'm not making fun of anyone in particular. Not averaging at least 15k/year makes me wonder how sustainable is the football program long term?

Everyone in this conference needs to work on attendance and grow our attendance/fan base. I think some schools such as North Texas are doing just that. UTEP would average 35-40k game if they were winning imo.

He wasn't making fun. I think you read too much into what he said. If their capacity is 15k, and 15K are showing up for their games, that's one thing. But if we're gonna praise a team for pulling 13K because they have a small stadium and are only 2K below capacity, we may as well then just build 10K-seat stadiums, so that even if we only pull 8K, we're still only 2K below and at 80% capacity. Btw, I believe that the high school stadiums in Texas with seating capacities of 15K or more number in the teens, and I think the largest is 23K.

ODU gets my praise because their stadium holds 20K, they're only 1-6 this year, and they're still drawing 19,964 fans to their games. That's impressive to me. UTSA has it good being in a dome and in a large metro area. So even though most in San Antonio aside from UTSA students and alumni are Longhorn or Aggie fans, we should also be drawing more fans than we are.

So just for the record are we talking actually attendance or make believe numbers?

clarify that for me...make believe or real? Because those are not even close to the same and while you're at it tell me which one is more important...real or make believe?

RE: Week 7 Attendance
The weather certainly hurt our attendance. The conditions were just too harsh for UNT fans that had to travel significant distances. Our next home game is Homecoming against Rice. If put down UAB on Saturday, and the weather cooperates, we should see a strong crowd.

First sentence of the entire thread....

"As always, attendance numbers come from the ESPN website."

That tells me where they came from but does not answer my question. Since you seem to think attendance is very important on how sustainable football is which one is more important...real or make believe? BTW for most schools it has little to no Bering on it one way or the other

We had the same issues in our game with UAB last week - these weather deals are really hurting attendance for some of us

We are going to be lucky to have over 10k butts in the seats the rest of the way. The coaching sucks, we are terribly boring to watch, and the weather is going to start to turn sour. It isn't like we have ever come out in droves to begin with, but things are about to get ugly.

I think we are talking about the same thing every other conference is talking about, make believe numbers.

We're probably going to lose the next 6 games, stop trying to make this an issue right now. People are tired of Bland Lambert and his boring style of play. It will be a great day when he is fired.

We also had a game moved on the week of the game to a weekday afternoon for Hurricane Florence.

Still, you have to put something on the field people want to see and Brad Lambert has a history of not doing that. We'll see if the next coach can correct that.

Well per this Marshall fan, we should be excited about a team that was embarrassed by App State, UMass, and UAB. Just think, there are people that believe this makes sense.

They also think we’re winning. We came into this game 2-3 on a two game losing streak. We came into this game giving up 77 points in the previous two games. Lambert’s style of football is not fun to watch. The students didn’t show up for this one.

Having said that, I had a ball watching this one from section 109.

I'm hopeful we can get 30k+ this Saturday with all that's on the line, but the weather forecast says 80% chance of rain so that'll probably deter some casual fans if that forecast holds.
