That, plus starting a redshirt freshman backup quarterback make me think they will be able to stop our running game, and I see no reason to think our passing game can make them pay for stuffing the box.

Also, I predict a season low (so far) in TV viewership, radio listeners, and posts in the Parliament game thread as the mounting losses take a toll on the faithful fans.

There are a lot of things about Rice Football that us fans really can’t control, or can’t control in any significant manner. This (bolded above) is one we can control.
Challenge... accepted.

Perhaps the biggest challenge at this time in the season is that the start time lends itself to drinking early and often during the game. Thus, all predictions about the quality of parliament posts are off.

At this point, that’s a feature, not a bug!

Was curious last time Rice went three games in a row without scoring a TD. In 1983 despite going scoring only 3,3,6,10,0,6 in a stretch (wow) they didn't do it. In 1966 the Owls scored 3,6,0 in a row but I can't determine if the 6-6 tie vs Tech included a Rice touchdown or not. It definitely happened in 1943 when Rice was shut out three games in a row.

My prediction is FIU 41-13...we find the end zone.

That was 1964, not '66. My best guess for where we might get confirmation online is Tech's archive of their game programs. They hosted West Texas State the next week, and the program for that game may have the box score and/or description of our game against them. I keep getting a 503 Service Unavailable error when I try to load it, though.

Thanks...I think the game score got me confused on the year!

I believe that it was a TD and missed extra point. Statistics for the season show 16 TD's but only 9 successful conversions and only 4 of 12 on FG's. One FG clearly came in a 3-6 loss to Texas. Games where we clearly did not have a FG or missed PAT were LSU (0), Stanford (7), SMU (7), and Arkansas (0). Other games besides TT where the other FGs (and/or missed PATs) could have occurred were West Virginia (24), aTm (19), TCU (31), and Baylor (20). Not sure how to allocate the 7 failed conversions and 3 FGs to those games.

But it would seem that odds favor TD and missed conversion.
