I know in the past when Louisiana is available, New Orleans takes them.

I do not believe that would be the case this year.

What is different? If ULL gets to six wins the fanbase would likely be pretty happy, look forward to bowling again, thus driving ticket sales.

I can't see the NO bowl taking the SBC champ that would sell maybe half the tickets as a bowl eligible ULL program.

The NOLA bowl tends to sell twice as many tickets when there's at least one Louisiana school playing in the bowl. I think this year they pick La Tech and a different Sun Belt school.

Troy has never not been in either Mobile or New Orleans since the the sun belt expanded its bowl opportunities. Troy will not go to Montgomery because the city wants to fill up hotel rooms. Half of our fans would just drive up the day of. Putting Troy in the cure bowl means you're selecting for record, since it's basically the 4th best bowl and Troy isn't hot right now.

New Orleans or Mobile will select Troy if bowl eligible because they know what they're getting.

They know what they're getting with Georgia Southern too.

I hope you are correct, I’d like to go to Mobile just to go to a different bowl.
