Interestingly Jans is the only WAC coach to schedule a scrimmage against a P5 program. A year ago, NMSU got hammered by a very good Texas Tech team. Jans felt that scrimmage was the turning point which propelled NMSU through last season. I think ASU will give Jans a real good gauge of what his team needs to work on to be WAC Champions again.

Pistol, do you think we’ll play ASU as well? From what it says we’re playing Abilene Christian @ASU.

According to that website, NMSU plays Abilene Christian in LC on the Oct. 20th, and Arizona State in Tempe on Oct. 27th.

Nice, let’s see if Bobby Hurley is still mad about that loss. We definitely need to play a team of that quality to expose us with this new team.

CBU will be better than some think. Mike Henn will be a player in the WAC.

What happened with Jeremy Lieberman? Why'd he leave the program?

Also, are Milan Acquaah and Ferron Flavor able to play this season? Or, are they required to redshirt?

From Aggie Alert:

I found a leak that was willing to share a little bit about the Aggie scrimmage. Aggies won by at least 20 points. Berreck, Ivan, and CJ stood out as having good games. Jans was in a lot of players faces and did not seem happy (what’s new). Johnny is also hoping to get back sooner than expected. Perhaps sometime in December.

Jeremy left b/c of Milan?

The possibility of getting McCants back before WAC play is great news for NMSU. Always hate to see players go down with injuries. Plus as a Lopes fan, I want to see GCU beat a fully healthy Aggies team.

UTEP has several players sitting out this year. They are going to be awful this season. Not surprised to see GCU beating them badly. UTEP might be the worst college basketball team in the nation this season.

I think you're ignoring some stiff competition for that title. Even the WAC has some contenders.

NMSU losses to Arizona State 79-72 in Tempe today and wins by 20 over ACU the other day. I like what I'm hearing and seeing.
