Trekies
Since the H&I network have all 5 Star Trek TV series right after each other 6 nights a week.

Was wondering which one people like the best. List them in order from your favorite to least favorite.

Star Trek TNG
Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Enterprise
Star Trek TOS
Star Trek DS9

Interesting that while it had the most episodes per season. The TOS lasted the fewest seasons (3) of any of the series. TNG, Voyager and DS9 (7) seasons each. Enterprise 4 seasons

^ this is correct...with DS9 watch the first episode and skip the rest of season one.

Enterprise is however growing on me as time goes by.

RE: Trekies
Biggest flaw with Enterprise is that without Roddenberry to control and monitor things the writers went way out from the original concept. Focused too much on the temporal wars, the temporal concept first introduced in a big way during Voyager, another post Roddenberry production.

You had an entire second season based on the temporal war and the Xindi attack on earth. Then when you believe it is finally over they pull a fast one and another Temporal war theme in sending them back to WW2 earth where aliens helped Germany to conquer the rest of the world.

By the time they got back to the original concept of exploring they had lost a lot of viewers. Even a trip into an alternate word theme similar to the TNG "Yesterdays Enterprise" could not get the fan base back in large enough numbers.

There were so many things that were left on the table which could have been done to tie them into TOS better than the writers did.

Mistake was to show the Klingon's with the cranial ridges in the first episode. They did not have them in TOS and it would have been a chance to lay the groundwork for the eventual change. Although they did show the DE-evolution per-se with the Klingon experimentation with augment DNA who lost their cranial ridges.

I could not disagree more. The biggest thing that held Star Trek back was Gene Roddenberry and his original concept. Star Trek I is what happens when you let Gene run things while Star Trek II is what happens when you go out and get a talented outsider (Nick Meyer) to run things. Moreover, the writers on Enterprise even said being forced to stick to Gene's 'no conflicts in the future' ideals is what caused them to get cancelled. Once it was obvious they were killing off the show the writers were able to put out some damn good episodes towards the end of Season 4 like Observer Effect, Babel One, In a Mirror, Darkly I and II, Terra Prime, etc

No conflict in the future restriction???

The entire second season was about a group of races from another part of space being mislead by temporal agents into attacking earth and killing millions of people and the conflict which happened because of it. The entire season was about stopping that group of races from coming back with a full scale weapon and totally eliminating the earth. And exposing the temporal agents for what they really were. The temporal war was nothing but conflict. This continued into the early part of the third season.

A large part of DS9 was about conflict in the future and war with the Dominion. And on going conflict between the Bajorans and the Cardassians.
Not to mention the Marquis another source of conflict in the future.

RE: Trekies
yes, an outside 'temporal' party is trying to mess with what we all know will end up as a nice harmonious federation....falls perfectly into the 'Roddenberry Ideal' that lead to the shows demise.

Moreover, of course DS9 was full of conflict...it's the anti-Roddenberry show. Ron Moore and Ira Steven Behr have said so themselves. Their entire Dominion war story with episodes like "In the Pale Moonlight" would have never been allowed if Gene had still been alive.

I would also add the Marquis are a perfect example of wasted drama potential...

You don’t have Netflix?

Instead of watching on H & I, you can watch on Netflix at your pace.

I realized over the weekend that my favorite Star Trek is Axanar. As an aside, I was on two panels over the weekend with David Gerrold, who wrote "The Trouble With Tribbles."

Axanar/Alec Peters raised all this money from the fans for a not-for-profit movie to be made...problem is Alec Peter then turned around and paid himself 41,000 from from the monies made...that made the film for-profit and that's why CBS/Paramount issued a cease and desist order for violating their copyright.

he shouldn't have stuck his hand in the cookie jar...

Star Trek Continues is better.

But Axanar has now been green-lit by the studio. And the new set is amazing.
