The key thing about that ad was it was inside the broadcast. That is important because YouTubeTV, PS Vue, etc all use the WatchESPN feeds. Those don't have the commercials a cable/satellite broadcast would. So if you just promote via a traditional commercial you're missing big swaths of viewers.

RE: Coming August 2019!
BREAKING NEWS:
Quote:The ACC Network will launch on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today. Just one week later, on August 29, the first conference football game will kick off on the new all-ACC platform when Georgia Tech visits Clemson for a Thursday night contest.
- official ACC release

So the rumors are true about GT/Clemson to kick off the ACC Network.

Clemson fans: is this early enough to avoid conflict with high school football?

Georgia Tech's new coach will be screaming internally about opening nationwide against a four time consecutive playoff team.

Par. GT gets no ACC scheduling help. It took PJ yelling to the AJC to get the rules changed in terms of byes before opponents.

How is this not help? GT now has all Summer to get ready for Clemson*

In addition, no wasted early-season bye (Tech previously had that date open and likely would've ended up using it on an FCS opponent). Finally, the second game for the Jackets will be on Sept. 7th (9 days later) against South Florida at home.

* not that it will matter much, but still.

It’s not like Clemson will know what to expect. Not just a new coach but almost certainly a different offense which may have to be some sort of hybrid because the upperclassmen on offense will have been recruited for the option.
