Here is the list of available (uncommitted transfers) - immediately eligible and those who need to sit a year.

There are a LOT of players out there looking for new homes.

One can click on 'new school' and see the players whose new school is blank.

It is getting late for both players and schools. In normal times, players would be moving in within what the next 3 or 4 weeks.

http://verbalcommits.com/transfers/2020?division=D1

Some Centers of interest:
-Mike Peake (Frosh; not immediately eligible)

https://georgiadogs.com/sports/mens-bask...peake/4451

That’s it. It’s pretty slim pickings; I don’t think any of the other Centers in the database are worth a scholarship.

If I’m being honest, I’d take King back, although that is highly doubtful.

Next up, possible PFs...

It’s a faux pas to cite oneself, but...

OY. Mike Peake went to Austin Peay.

Can we persuade King to come back?03-weeping

Pickings are slim, particularly at center.

It looks like we’re going to have to take a chance on someone who hasn’t really shown anything yet at the D1 level.

Some names of intrigue:
-EJ Datcher: https://hailstate.com/sports/mens-basket...tcher/5796
-Michael Cage Jr. (credit to emu79 for pointing him out earlier when I was skeptical): https://pepperdinewaves.com/sports/mens-...-cage/2529
-Courtese Cooper: https://www.nmnathletics.com/ViewArticle...EASON=2019
-Carlos Curry: https://olemisssports.com/sports/mens-ba...curry/2431
-Axel Okongo: https://mutigers.com/sports/mens-basketb...ongo/10788
-Bryan Penn Johnson: https://gohuskies.com/sports/mens-basket...hnson/9788

All of these guys are talented, big, and unproven. But I list them because they are all “downward” transfers (except Cage). These are guys who weren’t successful at the high D1 level. So, any mid-major might expect significant improvement from the combination of opportunity and easier competition.

Eli Wright
Vante Hendrix
Tevian Jones

Here's a player from Windsor that entered the transfer portal:

Might benefit from a sit out year.

Taurean Thompson to...

DETROIT.

I’m just going to presume that Boeheim wasn’t pleased about Thompson transferring to former rival Seton Hall, and didn’t endorse him to Murphy.

That said, it still fvcking sucks. He would have been perfect for us on paper.

Are we going to sit on two scholarships, and/or waste them on Ballard and Peterson? : /

There’s no evidence that he can play at this level, but I’d rather take a chance on him than give one of our walkons a scholarship.

I think it’s interesting to note that of the top 100 JUCO players, every one of them has already committed to a program.

https://www.jucorecruiting.com/2020-juni...gs-top-100

The only uncommitted top player at a position of need (PF) is Silas Love. Looks like a great player. I’m attaching his profile and stats:

I’ve seen people argue for giving one to Ballard. I just can’t imagine...

Murphy will come up with something, and it probably won’t be anyone on my various lists. : )

This. He always seems to find a needle in a haystack when it comes to recruiting. Or he’ll find a late transfer that he’ll try to get immediately eligible. There’s zero chance he’s satisfied with this roster, especially with his job on the line.

Agree on Ballard. Split the remaining one amongst the student managers.

Yep, exactly. It’s awfully lean in the middle, and a 2-3 fanatic like Murphy won’t let that stand.

Looking at film, I think that Bryan Penn-Johnson is the perfect Murphy center. But, he’s a west coast guy through and through — I don’t think he’d come to Ypsilanti.

Where he belongs! His offensive game might not be at the D2 level! Compare JTIV and Toure to him???? Not even close! Wish him luck, a very smart decision!
