I heard that too. I think many of us (myself included) are comparing DiNucci to Schor as a final product and I don't think that's fair to Ben. For those that may have forgotten, in year one of Schor there were concerns about his arm strength and ability to get the ball downfield. Same can be said for Ben.
I think if you were to compare Schor in year one at this point of the season to DiNucci right now I'd say they are pretty damn close. The one thing that is certain is DiNucci is more elusive. That's not to say Schor wasn't, just that Ben is just a little better.
Give Ben some more time before coming to any conclusions. I think the Schor/DiNucci comparison may be better applied at the end of next season.
I agree with that. I'm a big Nooch fan.

I think Delaware looks like the better team. Bizarre calls and no-calls in favor of Elon are responsible for Elon having a one-point lead.

RE: Game 7: at Nova - 1pm (Fox College Sports & Fox Sports Go)
I expected JMU, after getting the kick in the nuts wake up call to bring their A game.
If Bednarczk does’t get injured VU is 5-1 coming in to this game and legit top 10. But at 3-3 VU was playing for their playoff lives. Even if Benardczyk comes back and VU wins out after today, highly unlikely them make the playoffs at 7-4/4-4. So they had to win today. And their only (slim) chance was if Bednarczyk was playing & healthy.
JMU OFFENSE (C+) I expected to do a little better the 2nd time around against a 3-3-5 stack that probably has as good as personnel as Elon (although maybe not an LB stud like Elons AA LB #3 Messer, or stud de end like Elon’s #98 Willoughby, or a big NT like Elon has. But I didnt expect JMU’s offense to do that much better- VU along with Elon is likely one of the top 2 defenses in the CAA JMU will face.
-JMU’s offense would have put up more than the 302 that it did if hadn’t returned the 2 punts for TDs, which gave VU 2 extra possessions & took away 2 from JMU (thats a good thing of course).
-VU was stacking the box to limit the run. But were going into a pretty good wind 2nd & 3rd qtrs, which made throwing a little more difficult (scored offensive TDs 1st & 4th qtrs).
-Once JMU got well ahead went more conservative..
-That last drive JMU did shove it down their throats..
JMU DEFENSE (A+) As has been stated the VU offense struggles without Bednarczyk. The # 1 reason though, for VU looking bad on offense, is that JMU’s defense was lights out. Held VU to 157 (94 passing, 63 rushing). And 17 of those rushing yards came on VU’s last 2 plays against 2nd-3rd teamers out there on defense for JMU. Was good to see returning depth at the DL with Atari & Terrell playing, back to 7 deep. Also nice to see Word back at LB. Nice rotation/depth at the 2 ILB positions with #s 2/52/31/51.
SPECIAL TEAMS (A+) Was awesome. Blocked punt, 2 punt returns for TDs, 3 for 3 on FG, coverage was good.
Yes, have a few concerns on offense. VU was playing hard. Their defense is very good. Was a good win.

Your argument might be fine if the announcer said "DiNucci has the POTENTIAL to be better than Schor." He said DiNucci IS an upgrade from Schor. This isn't about Schor coming in midseason as a sophomore and starting vs. DiNucci right now. He's saying the DiNucci of right now is better than the Schor who won a national championship, which just isn't true.

Im all for keeping our guys fresh for the playoffs but Johnson should not be getting more carries than Marshall, and we really need to incorporate Percy into the offense before its over. At least get him some jet sweep action or something. Im not concerned about DiNucci. We went to the title game with Schor last year and he was basically a game manager who would throw random interceptions. Our recievers just need to cut out the drops.

Four minutes left in the game, Delaware leads Elon 21-16 and they have the ball on the Elon 2, third down.
That should do it. Delaware leads Elon, 28-16, four minutes left.

I agree with all of that. Marshall must be hating his transfer decision. Not good for us in regard to attracting more BCS transfers.
And if Percy is not redshirted, he should be getting some touches. I think he is probably the best RB we have, no doubt the most exciting.

NDSU recovered a W. Ill fumble, ran it back for six. Smelly Bison starting to dominate, 17-7.

RE: Game 7: at Nova - 1pm (Fox College Sports & Fox Sports Go)
DiNucci has to start anticipating throws, he seems to be a very reactive QB as of late. I think his success scrambling early in the season against terrible defenses has contributed to this. Against good speed, he's not able to be as effective with his feet. He was late on a ton of throw today. Nova loaded the box and forced us to throw most of the game, I think this is what most defenses do until DiNucci starts improving his timing. Its not all doom and gloom on my end, I think he has the ability to get it done and we still have a couple of weeks to get it figured out. We aren't championship caliber right now on offense but we won't need to be for a few more weeks to keep getting W's.

Good road win yesterday. Our special teams is a difference maker in most games. It is where are depth really shows through.
Defense was good against a bad offense but did their job so can’t criticize their efforts either.
Very worried about our offense. The lack of consistency against good defenses has been a season long thing. They move the ball at times but hardly any big plays for scores and when we have to get a yard, we can’t seem to make it happen. The offense is pretty good between the 20s but the red zone is a concern. Good thing we have a good field goal kicker.

This I don’t really understand. He’s averaging almost 8 ypc this year. Love cardon but he’s averaging under 4
And Percy with 0. Can somebody confirm that we blew his redshirt? I was sure we did but no idea why he'd not get some time. I didn't notice him on special teams but could have missed him. He was suited up and none of our RBs are exactly on fire so I don't see why he wouldn't even get in the game.
Agree 100%, I think he would have had success against Elon too.

According to the participation stats Percy has played in every game this season, so no chance at a redshirt (for this year). I'd also like to see him get meaningful carries early in a game to see how he'd do. OTOH, if teams are just going to stack the box against us I'm not sure it will make much of a difference. The holes just aren't going to be there.

Ben was 68% today. That is very good. He was Houdini again on several plays, getting himself out of trouble to prevent a tragic loss.
We racked up over 300 yards of offense against a pretty good defense and our defense held Nova to 157 yards, including a miserable 41 carries for 63 yards (1.5 ypc).
We had a good game against a good team and clobbered them. We should be happy.
Ben did a fine job. Can he do better? Sure, he can throw for over 80%, 5 touchdowns and no picks. Everyone can do better. But, skunking a pretty darned good football team the way we did today on their own field is something we should be celebrating.
If I had one single complaint about today's game it would be red zone offense. We need touchdowns when we get that close instead of stalled drives and field goals.
And, where the heck was this team last Saturday?
