There are not 8 guards in CUSA better than Zack Bryant!!!

"As good as Bryant was last season, many recruiting analysts pegged Hurtado as the gem of Ehsan’s 2017 recruiting class, but an untimely ACL tear wiped away his freshman season."

I did not know this...

The author must have received bad information or made a mistake. Hurtado did not tear his ACL last year.

I read three other magazines and we are picked about the same place - the lower half of a very bad CUSA.

We will apparently look forward to a very mediocre year. Thus our attendance will again be bad with zero joe Birmingham fans and probably be a drag on our overall finances/attendance. UGA picked near bottom of SEC may be good indication

I think the top of the conference is pretty strong, but certainly not deep, and UAB picked 8th is awful. Really hoping that doesn't turn out to be the case.

In 2015-16 Ehsan's squad was predicted to finish 1st, finished 8th
In 2016-17 Ehsan's squad was predicted to finish 2nd, finished 6th.
In 2017-18 Coach Ehsan looks to discover the secret to finally meet preseason expectations. 8th or bust baby!

Following the pattern, we should finish 4th this season. 03-razz

Our conference did manage to win 11 postseason games last year across 4 tournaments. That has to be in the top quarter of the non P5 leagues.

I have a choice to make.

1. Give up on UAB Basketball
Or
2. Give up on UAB Basketball fans

Number one give me a lot more enjoyment than the second one does. #2 has already written off #1 before the season even starts. I’m going with #1 and #2 can go jump in a lake.

Lecturing other fans would sound better if you actually made it to some games. How many UAB athletic events have you attended in the last year? Talking on the internet is pretty cheap and easy.

So we're bringing back one starter, three subs and the rest are all new guys, and eighth place is a surprise prediction?

This is the team that Ehsan wanted, with the players he wanted. Now we'll see if he can produce with them.

Kind of hard to go to games when you are working in Northern virginia, Del Rio, Texas or Seattle Washington, but I really don’t have to explain that to you or anyone else. For you know, I’ve gone to every game, since you don’t know me and I wouldn’t bother to check in with you or any other fan. Just continue doing what UAB fans do. Be negative and trash every aspect of every program you can.

I haven't trashed any program at UAB or the fans that show up and keep this athletic program going with their $. I do remember you remarking on this board that you couldn't make any basketball games last season.

If you aren't willing to make any sacrifice for the team you supposedly love, you probably don't really love it that much. But you are bestest internet Blazer fan ever so try not to dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back.

Yep. Too much negativity. I haven’t logged on in a long time, and only did tonight to see why the football game was delayed. Glad to see the negativity continuing ?

Considering the inexperience of the team, and the coach, it's unfair to expect more than middle of the pack in C-USA this season. The league has improved and our roster is kind of a mystery. Better not to expect too much and then be pleasantly surprised if we put it together quickly.

Ehsan is gonna get this season and the next with all his players. I hope he turns it around in a big way.

RE: 3 Man Weave CUSA Basketball Preview
We have so many newcomers that it's hard to project our team. Optimistically, we're in the top half of the league, but it'll take a couple of months to gel.

I think our defense will be improved, but offense is a huge question mark. We know Bryant can score, but he wasn't extremely efficient last year. Since he's virtually the only known commodity, opposing teams are going to key on him, so we're depending on the newcomers to really step up.
