This post is insane and not just for the token, unwarranted shot at millennials.

By that logic we can say "Tuberville doesn't go 4-8, Tuberville doesn't take bowl vacations, Tuberville didn't lost all those games." This is Mick's program. What the team does is a reflection on the coach whether you want to run from that or not. We need to achieve more. Last year as a nice start despite blowing that game, but we need more deep runs, need more conference titles, need more top 15 type teams.

I'm stopping you right there, I am a millennial and so are you. Our generation has problems and just because you or I aren't a part of that, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It's not related to this thread, it's just a piece of rhetoric. More people from our generation live with our parents(not saying it's all our fault), more people from our generation are unmarried later, have more unresolved debt etc. We have problems, we're not perfect and we don't do ourselves any favors when you let tiny little jabs like that get to you. It's because of that kind of reactionary, insecure, self internalizing(when it's not directed at you personally) type of response that we get labeled "generation snow flake".
It's a quip dude, there's no reason to get all butt hurt about it.

Basketball isn't drawn up play after drawn up play, apples and oranges.

One game does not a program make, one team does not a program make and again, he can't do it for them. Our inability to do what was needed at the end of the Nevada game was a reflection of the players and competition. Nothing else. And I'm sorry, but it's hyperbolic, hysterical, non-sense to say one game negates the entire season. It's retarded and I would be also if I were to take such a obtuse view of the world. Regardless, I'm not going to go back and forth on it. Arguing over and over again about the same topic is lame.

2 kids as lottery picks in over a decade? That excites you?

Mick has no cred.

So the 5 stars don't come.

So the program remains mediocre at best.

How is it that a tiny private school less than 5 miles away can run rings around us during the entirety of Cronin's tenure?

Same locale, same recruiting targets.

You tell me what the difference is.

I assert that it's sitting on the sidelines during the game.

It ain't one game pal....it's 12 years of post season misery save one sweet 16 run....and even Loyola managed that.

Look at the whole body of work. If you are satisfied with poor post-season success then you either don't care....or you are only a fan of CFB.

Thank you Mark. A more well reasoned response than I would have penned (actually I was just going to ignore the stupidness).

What is it about this board that attracts some of the worst takes out there?

Excites me? 03-lmfao
Look, we had a better starting 5 than we've had probably in 20 sum odd years and it's unfortunate they faltered when they did, but that's the nature of misfortune. The idea that he's doing something to cause them to drop tournament games is stupid. There's pressure during the season too, am I to believe the NCAA tournament committee or some other outside force is casting a spell that magically makes these games break that way? No. The basket isn't higher, he isn't facing NBA competition in March. Like I said, unlucky.
The decade could have been better, sure. My Chrysler could be a Maserati. It's not though.
Lemonade sir, lemonade.

You have a warped perception of mediocrity and the five stars aren't coming to Clifton regardless of who the coach is.
Feel free to prove me wrong.

Quote:How is it that a tiny private school less than 5 miles away can run rings around us during the entirety of Cronin's tenure?

1. No rebuild.
2. They've had better luck during the tournament, played in a weaker A-10 conference when we were in the Big East and because success builds upon success.

That's not a take it's a fact. We have more debt, we have more childless, we have less money, we have less ambition and we're depressed compared to generation X, the boomers and the greatest generation. Sorry, but you can look it up if you don't believe me. A bunch of 30 year old adolescents who never got over the great recession, never grew up and are emotionally/spiritually stunted.

X amount of money = Z amount of progress... If all it took was money, we'd already have reached whatever plateau you all are imagining us at and so would every other major university in America. We can't all be blue bloods, just as people can't all be rock stars. At some point, like one of those douche bag hipsters playing "Wonderwall" on his acoustic at the mall or at the airport, you'll have to face reality. We could very well end up more successful under another coach, but I think it's a taller order to fill than the people here realize.

Agreed. I think Mick will break through the wall at some point and any other coach we hired, if they did break through the wall, would be at a Big 10 team the next year.

For me it is a question of: would I rather have another 2 decades of good Mick teams that have a chance of making Final 4's every year or would I rather have a coach come in for 4 years, possibly do a great job and make one final four and the bolt for greener pastures like every good football coach we've ever had.

This has always been a position that people pull out of thin air. What evidence do we have that a successful coach is going to get up and leave? We had to force our last Hall of Famer out.

We shouldn't hang on to Mick because people are scared someone will be more successful and leave. Plenty of reasons to stay at an historically great college basketball program after great success.

Also my point isn't to say we should force Mick out either. I'm happy with Mick for now. I just think we need to see more seasons like last year. If we do the deep runs will come.

RE: Thank you Mick Cronin!
I am going to cement my position as a bit of a fuddyduddy here.

I like that Mick seems to be putting together winning teams the "right" way. His recruits go to class and graduate. Maybe not all as rocket scientists, but real degrees. Most (not all) of his players seem like pretty nice guys you would not mind having as a neighbor.

A lot of schools would give their eye teeth for what Mick has going here.

Of course, I would like to see more post season wins and longer NCAA runs. However, I don't think the grass is much greener on the other side of this hill.

Its never perfect, but yes, thank you Mick.
